Do you plan on starting them in school at preschool or wait till kindergarten?
Depending on where she is for daycare not sure if we'll take the free preschool or keep her at daycare and start "school" at kindergarten.

We're thinking about sending our LO to preschool in a couple months!

We'll probably do preschool part time. I'm a sahm but I want her to get some socializing in regularly.

I hope so!! I would love Montessori if we could afford it. If everything goes as planned, I will be graduating around the time he would start preschool, so hopefully we can afford it!

Preschool for sure. A break for me, fun and socialization for her. Win win win.

Yes. I've been a SAHM so I felt like DS didn't have enough interaction with kids his age. It's been great though. He's learned his days of the week, counting up to 30, his ABC's entirely and he is really growing and progressing well. According to the other parents of older students, his school preps them nicely for kindergarten. It's $150 a month so it isn't too bad. I wish it was free! A friend of mine pays $800 a month for 3 days a week from 8am-noon for her son's preschool, which is really steep to me.

@HLK208: $150 a month... I'm so jealous! DD 1's tuition is about 10x that! That's awesome! But yeah I think preschool is worth it.'they learn sooo much. This year DD learned the Pledge of Allegiance and Star Spangled Banner. She's doing a lot of writing and spelling... Some pre-reading stuff... I think she's ready for Kinder in the fall and I chalk it up to her going to preschool!

We're planning on sending our son to preschool in a few months when he turns 3. He's in daycare right now and loves his teacher and friends. But I think he needs a more structured environment to prepare him for kinder.

He started preschool at 18 months old. So we will keep him in it as long as we can. Starting Montessori next year.

Yup, we were just talking about this last night...I'd like to start LO i preschool/nursery school around 2/2.5 for socialization, since I'm home with him. Plus, hopefully we'll have LO #2 around then, so it'll be good for him to out of the house for a few hours each day.

I really want to send LO to preschool, but we will see what our financial situation looks like at that point. If not preschool, for sure a class of some sort so she can get some social skills.

Absolutely! These days I think it's essential for kids to start school early just to keep up with the intense leaning goals in public education, especially if the child may need plenty of time to adjust to the school setting.

we plan to, but not full time. may hold off sending them and only have them do one year before entering kindergarten. i've taught preschool and am pretty confident in my ability to make sure they are where they need to be academically by the time they start school. we'd send them to learn classroom routine and for socialization purposes.

I would think kids would be very behind their classmates if they went to Kindergarden with no prior learning or socializing. The day care our LO is at goes all the way up to pre K. But we probably will live in another state by the time she's at that age so hopefully we can find a similar place.

I think that we're going to do preschool with our LO and future LO. Our daycare ages out kids at 2.5 years old or so. They go to a nearby preschool. One of the selling points of the daycare was that her kids come to preschool knowing numbers and letters in English and Spanish.
