Recommend your wine glass! We and guests keep breaking our wine glasses.
We don't have enough any more. Prefer stems and not too crazy expensive.

Bed Bath and beyond has them for like $1 each. We had them for our wedding

We have Libbey and IKEA wine glasses. They are cheap and sturdy. The Libbey ones came from Bed Bath and Beyond, but I think Target also sells them.
We used to have a fancier set with more delicate glass, but we broke every single one. We can't be trusted with fancy glasses.

We bought a bunch from the dollar section at Target. They're usually out around Thanksgiving...but we actually prefer to use rocks glasses because they're harder to knock over.

I find mine at home goods or TJ max. They usually have Waterford, Mikasa, and Riedel for reasonable prices.

Crate and Barrel stemless. The break much less often than ones with stems.

I need new ones too! I've broken 2 in the last 2 months and I think we only have 5 left (out of more than a dozen!).
@PurplePumps: @808love: glad to see Reidel recommendations. They are Austrian (we live in Austria) and I see them everywhere but always wondered if they were just prominent because they are local or if people really buy/use them.

i love reidel glasses but we always break them so i can't spend the money on them anymore. bormioli are also great and a little more affordable.
now i just stick to ikea stemless because we break wine glasses constantly.

I use our crate and barrel stemless ones 90 percent of the time since they are hard to break and fit in the dishwasher easily. For "fancy" occasions we have some basic ones from crate and barrel but they do feel easily breakable.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
Stemless for us because I put them in the dishwasher.
I also really like the ones with the short stems, like a pedestal.

We use Reidel as our everyday stemless and Iittala with stems for fancier dinners.
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
We have Reidel that's sold at Target.
@@lamariniere: I bought mine after Bethenny Frankel RHONY shouted them out on her TV show many moons ago. I figured a celeb chef would know a good brand.

Schott Zwiesel Titan Pure collection. We have both red and white. I LOVE them. We used to have villeroy and boch and after a while most broke (granted they lasted 6 years). These are fantastic. A little more modern looking than my last glasses, excellent feel in the hand, weighted nicely, and they go in the dishwasher. They are about 10 bucks a glass. So I don't know what you consider pricey but they are worth it. I've dropped them in our stainless steel sink and on our marble counters and no breaks. I've also given the bar glasses (long drink and whiskey) as gifts to my parents and they love them as well.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I'm totally going to get some Reidel stemless! We walked into a wine shop this afternoon that had a big range of Reidel glasses so we could see them in person and hold them. They are cheaper on Amazon though, so I'll order them.

We have the Crate and Barrel stemless for casual every day. We do have some basic stems from CostPlus World Market - they are sturdier than Ikea stems and don't cost a whole lot.
honeydew / 7463 posts
Pier 1 is usually decently priced for what you get, I think.
Also, I would scope out Home Goods / TJ Maxx / Marshall's. I know I've seen sets of stemware there that are pretty nice and a good deal.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@gingerbebe: Wow I just looked at Crate & Barrel and I'm surprised what a good deal they have on stemware. They have some collections for $4 a glass!
If we didn't have an apartment with limited space Id totally grab a few for every day use. I currently use our $30/glass Riedel from our wedding and I'm in constant fear of them breaking! But literally I have zero room in my kitchen for even one more wine glass. Womp womp.

@NCSUchick27: the Ikea ones are pretty nice looking! Can't beat the price either.
@gingerbebe: is there a specific brand or do they carry their own grand?
Maybe I'll check out the Reidel ones for holiday dinners and such.
@SweetiePie: I really like one I saw on CB2!

Ikea! You just can't beat the price. I only have stemless ones but I like them!

I like and use both the IKEA stemless and the Crate and Barrel stemless. Having gone stemless, I doubt I’ll ever go back to stems. We have some nicer stems for formal dinners, but I love stemless for everyday.
The IKEA ones are cheap, and just OK quality and they don't feel as nice in my hand as other brands do (this is probably personal preference tho). They get somewhat “cloudy” over time, which the C&B have not; but for a buck a glass or whatever, who really cares. If you have a C&B outlet anywhere near you – check there. That’s where I buy most of my C&B stuff, great bargains.

I'm cheap and got the 12 pack for like $10 from Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and we have yet to lose one (5 years in.) I had a nice set of Waterford from our wedding and broke every single one, never again. we can't be trusted with nice things ha.
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@yoursilverlining: I don't - not even CB2. I wish because i Love their stuff.

You might want to consider switching to stemless, we did because friends kept breaking our glasses, and haven't had an incident since!
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
@regberadaisy: Did you look at the French Wine glasses?
Might be a good compromise, they're more sturdy than a regular stem and they have a nice look as well.
pomelo / 5220 posts
We use Reidels for stemmed glasses. I used to work in a cooking store (Sur La Table) and they were the most durable - based on someone who had to dust and rearrange them all the times, they were the least likely to break even if I banged them into the shelf by accident! So that's what I registered for. I mostly use my Waterford stemless though.

Another vote for Riedel, they were recommended to us and then we saw wineries using them over and over again on our honeymoon in Napa. We love them; even though we have broke quite a few

Thank you Hello Bee for enabling my Reidel purchase. I found an 8 pack of stemless glasses on Amazon, they should be here by the end of the week!

@yoursilverlining: Totally agree...stemless FTW!
Ours are from Crate & Barrel and they've held up really nicely.

You've already gotten some great suggestions, but I'll just throw out there to AVOID the Macy's Cellar sets at all cost. About 18 months ago (less!) we started with a set of 8 white/8 red as our everyday glasses, and we are down to maybe 4 white and 2 - maybe even only 1 - red. The glasses crack, the stems snap....I'm definitely disappointed! Our IKEA glasses never broke, so we may go back to those.
We have Riedel Vinum (so big, but not the super big series) glasses for specific varieties of reds and whites, and a set of stemless chardonnay glasses, but don't get those out except for nicer wines alone or with friends who appreciate wine. For cheaper wines, people who don't really care, or parties (where glasses are more apt to be broken), we use an everyday set.
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@Boogs: @gingerbebe: Thanks! Found a set I like, 6 for $12. LOL Those will do nicely for an everyday set.
Eventually, it'll be nice to get a set of Riedels for special occasions. But can't spend the $ right now.
Those with Riedels, where did you buy them? Do the Macys coupons work on them or is it a excluded brand?
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@regberadaisy: we used Macy's coupons but it was 5 years ago. I feel like excluded brands weren't as big of a thing then. =/

I have crate and barrel Viv for my every day wine glasses. They really haven't ever broken except for a few when I was first figuring out how to hand wash them in my tiny kitchen sink. And they are inexpensive enough that they are easy to replace if you do break one.
