sneakers for DCP/school and winter boots for the snow.

In the past I bought LL bean boots and liked them but last year I bought some from Target and they worked great - we got TONS of snow last winter too!

I was JUST updating our winter shoe wardrobe!!!

For our LOs we need the following for winter:

1) Sneakers
2) Snow Boots
3) Dress Shoes
4) Rain Boots (although our snow boots are waterproof as well)
5) Dress Boots (for LMW)

The last two are optional, but we happen to have them for both kids already... I really need dress shoes for both kids. "Dress" meaning like a mary jane for LMW and either a cool Converse or a Timberland low boot for WJ.

Following! I didn't even think about this yet since LO wasn't walking last winter lol

@swurlygurl: I have rain boots for the kids since we have 4 seasons... so they sometimes use rain boots in the winter or spring when it's not quite as cold. But when there's snow at all, we usually stick with snow boots since they have the drawstring to keep snow from going down into them. They are clunky but the kids have no problem walking in them! They are also super warm so not ideal for rainy warmer days.

@Mamaof2: that is our problem as well, it's like he just "marches" instead of walks. I really need something different this year, they go outside for a full hour in all weather at his new preschool.

We had been using ones from Lands End. They're good, but not great.

I want to get her a pair of off brand uggs and regular playing in the snow boots.

WE stick with:

1) tennis shoes (bought 2 pairs of Converse one for daycare, one for at home)
2) boots (cute but functional for cold days)
3) dress shoes (for holiday's & church)

she's never outside in the snow, but if she shows interest this year in snow play than I will get her some cheap snow boots, since she will hardly use them.

We are getting:
1-2 pairs of sneakers and a pair of bog boots/other water resistant and warm boots.

@swurlygurl: Depending on what material the rain boots are made out of, they can crack in the colder, snowy temperatures. They are also often not going to be warm enough; your/their feet will get too cold because there isn’t insulation like in winter boots. Also, as others have said, snow will just get inside of rain boots.

We have rain boots, snow boots, leather boots, and Ugg boots. The Ugg are least practical, as they can’t really be worn outside when it’s wet or snowy; they do keep toes warm though. Her winter boots are from LL Bean. We also got a pair from Carters last year, but they were more cute than actually good, practical boots. The leather boots were good for days that were not super cold or super snowy because they were somewhat warm, but didn’t get wet in muck and mud/snow.

For my son, I just have a pair of sneakers and a pair of snow boots. He just wears sneakers for dress up as we dress up infrequently. For my daughter, we have sneakers, mary janes, fall boots and snow boots.

I would say sneakers, snow boots and a pair of dress shoes is kind of the bare necessities.

C has casual boots, snow boots, sneakers and dress shoes.

I don't know about "necessities", but this winter my LO has more shoes than normal, for some reason. We've got "sporty" low-top sneakers (a gift), high-top canvas sneakers, and leather boots. Then I've got to find him some snow boots and some warm moccasins or something for inside. Too many!
