Anyone else prefer to take vacations during winter? Where are you interested in/planning to go next?

I do! We live in New England, so I'm always ready to escape the cold by the time January or February rolls around. We actually just booked our next trip - a Caribbean cruise in February! I'm so excited.

I hope we get to this year! I really want to go to Asia...but we'll see!

I love winter vacation but we haven't been able to swing it lately. Now that we live in a warmer climate I might actually prefer summer though to get away from the heat.

One of these years we want to do a winter vacation to the Alps, put our son in ski school! We'll see though.

@catlady: That sounds so exciting!
@lamariniere: Where in Asia?
@bhbee: We live in the north, and like to escape the cold! But I'm looking forward to taking summer vacations when LO's old enough to start school.

Always! Living in the NE just make you wanna live elsewhere during the winter! I always figure summer is nice and there are lots to do why would I want to go away? We did Mexico back in March this year. No vacation this winter since LO is due in December.

@looch: That sounds so picturesque! We're not very athletic, so a ski vacation isn't in our plans anytime soon, but I'm always a little jealous of those who are.

Normally that's when we plan but nothing for this year. BOO I wanted to go to Chicago for a babymoon but DH shot it down being all responsible

@SugarplumsMom: neither are we...kid in ski school, parents at the restaurant, lol!

@snowjewelz: Exactly our reasoning. Winters are so miserable here in Sweden, it's a shame to not be here during summer when it's green and sunny!

@looch: Ha! You know, DD is showing signs of being highly athletic. That doesn't sound bad at all

@SugarplumsMom: Not sure yet...I'm thinking a city and then a beach? Hong Kong or KL, and then Bali? But who knows... I loved seeing the Bee family's trip to the Philippines, but I know nothing about it. Where are you thinking for your vacation? Or are you getting ideas here?
@looch: ski vacation at a Kinderhotel is a good idea. The kids are always occupied so you are free to hang out at the restaurant, or the spa!

@lamariniere: That is a good idea, i forgot about them! We went to one when our son was 4 months old, in Austria, actually!

That would be a great time for a babymoon for us (DH still scoffs at the idea, but I'll get him there!). I also live in New England, so a quick trip to somewhere warm would be great. After watching Treme, I've been dreaming of visiting New Orleans!

I love taking international vacations during Thanksgiving. It's not a global holiday so it's not super crowded, expensive, or touristy during those times!

We don't normally vacation in the winter, although it would be nice! However, we are taking a Disney cruise in November this year, decided to take advantage of some promotions and enjoy not being tied to a school schedule!

Living in NE you need a break from the 6 months of cold and snow!
We're going to the Caribbean in December, just before Christmas .

We used to always go to Cancun right after Christmas. It's the best time!!!

I'm really going to miss my New year's all inclusive trip this year, but we'll be spending a good amount of time in Korea in November and December hopefully!!

We usually go to Hawaii every winter, but we're already busy this year so I don't know where we will go. We're talking about just doing an all inclusive in the Bahamas, Jamaica or Cabo.

I don't know if we prefer it, but in order to see our family on the east coast, we go home for either Thanksgiving or Christmas. This year, it will be Christmas. I would love going home for the holidays if it was warmer and not have to lug our winter coats home. If I put the holiday part of it aside, I would prefer to visit during the summer or beach going months.

@lamariniere: I don't want to travel very far, so maybe south of Spain, Portugal, or somewhere new in the Canaries. There's some great deals right now (low fares) in all of those places, so I'm antsy!
