Do you believe in them?
I feel like whiny baby syndrome can be blamed on anythig and I'm not sure I buy into fussiness being tied to wonder weeks.

I'm planning to go to the library tomorrow to check the book out. I'd like to blame DS's bad sleep last night and cranky evening today on the Wonder Week Leap 4. From the little that I know about WWs, it doesn't seem like you could pin down developmental leaps to certain weeks and have it work for all children.

I believe in wonder weeks more than i believe in blaming teething.
LO had super bad sleep and sudden cranky/fussy/clingy periods during wonder weeks 3-5. It wasn't so bad during ww 6.

I was actually just reading about this. LO just turned 9 months and this week has been hell with her sleep--she's taking longer to fall asleep and waking up so many times throughout the night, plus her naps are worse.
Any time LO is going through a really cranky phase, I google and it turns out that the phase coincides with wonder weeks, so for me there's got to be something to it.

@mrsjazz: same here. Every time she goes through a phase of being fussy, not napping, waking up several times at night, with a nursing strike, it just so happens to be during the wonder weeks.
She'll be 8 months in two weeks and it's been baaaad lately.

"there's an all for that.". I couldn't think about reading a book on the wonder weeks...I only wish I had time to read! But I learned there is a wonder weeks app that I downloaded and it's pretty informative!

gah. went to see if I could get it from the library and there are 35 holds on ONE copy. By that rate LO will be past all of them before I get to read it! >_<

My moms always bugging me to treat the symptoms and not try to figure out the cause but I do. But it seems like there's a ww growth spurt or other possible reason for fussiness from birth to age two! With that said we have had a rough week starting the day he turned eight weeks where he can't seem to turn his brain off and fall into a deeper sleep, coinciding with a wonder week. Next week it'll be his first shots. Ugh. At least I got a solid three hours of sleep tonight and then two more! Hoping for one last blip if he quiets right now....

I know several people who love the book. I thought it was a bit broad, so that it could fit just about any child during a particular wonderweek. I made that decision pretty early on in the book though so maybe it gets more specific in later weeks.

I definitely believe in the leaps, but I'm not sure about fussiness. Though my LO has been super whiney lately and he's in the Categories Wonder Week.
@Tidybee: Oh hell no reading any baby books. It's all about the apps.

To be honest, I never really "got" wonder weeks. LO is usually only fussy when he's about to pop a tooth and chill in general.

@caffeinated: I totally agree. Babies teethe for their first 2 years!!
While I do believe in wonder weeks, the first year is a lot of dark, stormy clouds (according to the app) with tiny pockets of sunshine. So it basically makes you feel like your LO can be cranky/not sleepingwell/clingy at anytime and you can blame it on a WW.

@littlek: My son is grouchy when he is not feeling well or when he's trying to master a new skill. He has been kinda whiny pre-crawling and since learning to crawl. I think his mind gets ahead of his body and he gets pissed.
@Sammyfab: EXACTLY!

Is there a wonder week right before your LO turns 8 months? Because B has been fussy during playtime. He's trying really hard to crawl, he will rock and rock and then fall down and start crying and then reach for me so that I can hold him. Poor little guy.. He never acts like this.
