Won't go to the nursery

For 3 months P went to the church nursery & did great! Now?.. Not so much. The last 4 weeks she has fussed, the last 2 times (both today) cried the whole time! Now she doesn't have a very big cry so they're okay with keeping her, but idk what to do to get her happy again.... Tonight we even tried having DH drop her off instead but it still didn't work. No change in nursery volunteers, schedule, nothing.

Gah! I'm now sitting in the moms room only able to hear the seminar (I'm 100% visual so just hearing isn't very conducive for me to learn)... Any ideas how to make her happy again going to the nursery?

sounds like a spot of separation anxiety. I don't know what you can do other than wait for it to pass.

LO totally goes through nursery phases like this. We just keep trying, knowing that it will pass. The workers know her well enough to know when she will or won't calm down. So, we always drop her off, but sometimes end up being called to get her a few minutes later. One thing that has helped when she's in an anti-nursery phase is having a little drop-off routine. We pass her to the workers, they point out her friends, and then take her to the windows to look for birds. I don't know why it works, but it does. Do you ever have play dates with other kids in her class? LO totally recognizes her friends these days, so seeing them during the week and in the nursery helps her feel more comfortable.

I agree, it's probably just a phase! At first he was OK with it, but then for awhile around age 2 my son would FLIP when he had to go to nursery during my Bible study. After several weeks like that, he really got into it and now he always says he wants to go to Bible study! (which is hilarious because obviously he's not studying any Bible at this point. Hope he keeps up his enthusiasm tho.)

One thing that he seemed to like was getting to know the other kids. Like, at one point we started buying little bits of chocolate during our supermarket run, saying, "look, one for you, one for Sophie, one for Diego and one for the teacher!" (And 5 for mommy but that's beside the point.) He loved bringing them treats.

So... hang in there, it should pass!

Even though the care givers haven't changed, could something have happened with them or another child and her? Is she upset at the sight of someone or something in particular?

Not sure what to suggest since I'm the one who can't leave (I kinda ended up helping the two times I tried to put my littlest into the nursery ...) - thankfully we stream our services on youtube so I can catch up on Monday.
Is there any way you could bring something comforting from home? A special toy or book?

Thanks ladies. It seems like she's just upset being away from me more than anything... she was sick for a couple weeks but it started before the weeks she missed. I know she's getting close to walking & talking to a friend I was informed that right before the walking milestone is hit & for a bit after it's normal to have a phase of separation anxiety. boo.

As for any friends there... we go to a really big church & I haven't really seen any kids that are there like every week or anything & really P isn't a very social baby (more I see you're there & go back playing with whatever she's doing).

We'll just keep trying & hope that it passes soon!!!

I'm sure it's just a phase, my LO started doing this a bit at daycare drop-off, but as soon as we leave she is totally fine! (like, her usual happy self within minutes). Bringing in a favorite toy/blanket/lovey/book/etc. helped a bit; when she started to cry at drop-off we could take out the high value item and she would usually turn her attention towards it. Getting a hug from her favorite caregivers helped too.

@runsyellowlites: Also, our children's director said that she sees kids have the most issues at 6 months, 18 months, and 24 months because they're switching to new rooms. I also noticed that LO has issues when she gets bored. The workers had to start regularly putting her in the 12-17 month room a few months early because she was way happier with kids that were more active.
