I only got one dose, my delivery was too fast for more. It was totally fine, they just kept an eye on her for a day and let us know what to look for when we were discharged.

As a primip you should have plenty of time because labor takes longer.

I also tested positive for group B strep. My water broke and I was 3 cm 80% effaced when I got to the hospital and was checked the first time. I was started on antibiotics like an hour after arriving at the hospital I received 2 doses before delivering 10 hours later.

By the time I got to the hospital I was 4cm and 80% effaced at 4am and I think contractions were right around 5 mins apart if not less.
I was hooked up to the IV about 4:30am. I started pushing around 11am. I got two doses of the IV.

@winniebee: I'm with you! I tested positive too, and my OB said "if your water breaks, come in because we have to get you started on the IV", but if it doesn't break, I'm on my own to figure out when it's time to go!

My water broke and I was 8cm dialated by the time I got to the hospital, and I STILL had about 9 hours before DD was born! I think you'll be ok but they're prepared either way.

@winniebee: Yeah, apparently I had a little lip that just wouldn't go away. And DD was OP so I spent some time on my hands and knees trying to get her to flip over - which fortunately worked. In a way, I was grateful we had longer because after getting the epi, I was able to rest for a bit before pushing!
