My husband and I purchased our first home about a week ago. It's a little bit of a fixer-upper, so we are currently renovating it. We are waiting to move in until the beginning of February when everything is fixed up and looking nice. I haven't shared the news on Facebook, and I've only told a few of my closest friends and relatives about the house. My plan was to wait until after the renovations are complete and we are moving in, and then send out a postcard with our new address and officially tell everyone our big news.

I just found out my in-laws have been sharing the news with all of the extended family on my husband's side. My father-in-law just sent me a text asking what the new address is, so he can go ahead and give it out before people send Christmas cards.

Maybe he was trying to be helpful, but I feel like he should have asked us first if we wanted him sharing the news yet. Especially since I haven't posted anything about it on Facebook or made any public announcements. I was looking forward to telling everyone myself. Would this annoy you if someone shared the news of your first home purchase before you did, or am I overreacting to this?
