I recently won 3 auctions from the same seller, I ask about combined shipping since they'd easily fit into a medium flat rate box. She responded telling me to subtract one shipping fee, $24 in s&h for 3 pairs of jeans that could easily fit into one box for half that.
How would you respond?
I know what I'd like to say, but it isn't nice

It would bug me, but you already won the auctions and agreed to pay the shipping. The damage is done.

Is this an experienced shipper? I don't have any answers but I have two stories that happened to me in the past two weeks. An experienced eBayer I bought from sent me $2 cash with my purchase because I overpaid on shipping. Meaning it came out cheaper than we expected. Just awesome service on top an amazing deal I scored 80% off. She is going to get an over the top review from me.
Story 2-I have almost no experience shipping on eBay, posted an ad and charged an amount suggested by EBay. After the buyer put money in PayPal I shipped out and found I could stuff it in a smaller package, which was $5 less than $10 I charged. I have no idea what to do because I mailed it out and it was already paid for. I am wondering if I will get a bad review because of it?
I might be really sweet and cheesy and say Pretty please can you offer me the actual shipping cost in x size package (linking to ups website) because it will fit nicely together in one x sized box. I would greatly appreciate any assistance on adjusting the shipping cost. I realize it is varying from original agreement and kindly ask you consider my humble request.

@808love: that's a good way to refund buyers on shipping costs! It's not really worth it to go through a paypal refund for $2 but to just throw in $2 cash is easy!

@oliviaoblivia: I will pay it because you're right I did agree. I've bought and sold a lot on EBay and this is the first time I've ever had anyone do this, and I believe it's against Ebay's rules to profit off shipping. My total isn't a small either, it's over $100 w/out shipping!
@808love: She's under 100, so fairly new. You're lucky you got a good one, that's awesome! I've refunded through PayPal, never thought about cash!! I can't tell you how often I've not charged enough for shipping and eaten the cost because it's my mistake!
@Ms. RV: I sent one more message because she won't send me a new invoice and I can't deduct anything from the total. In that message I ask her nicely if she'd put them in a flat rate box. We'll see. If she doesn't oblige, then that will be my recourse.

Three pairs of jeans would easily fit in a flat rate $10 box! Which the USPS will send you for free.

@StbHisMrs: I would definitely ask her to fit everything into a flat rate box. I sell on eBay frequently, so I have a pretty good idea of how to ship most efficiently. Recently, an item I wanted to bid on (a toddler dress & cardigan set) was listed with shipping fees of $10. Uhhh... I couldn't imagine how something that would weigh at the most 10 OZ could possibly warrant such a high shipping rate, so I contacted the seller and asked if she would ship first class, in a poly mailer, because that would cost $4 at the most. She didn't seem to understand what I was asking, so I decided not to bid.
In your case, I would ask the seller one more time to fit everything into a flat rate envelope (which can be obtained for free from the USPS). Hopefully she's a new seller who is still trying to figure out shipping. I know when I was new, i had a couple buyers point out (nicely) a way I could ship for cheaper, and I appreciated them letting me know!

@blackbird: Right! So I'm not crazy My garage is full of different sizes boxes and envelopes from USPS, ordered and delivered for free! Love that!
@pinkcupcake: I really should've ask her first, I ran out of time as I started watching them towards the end of the auction! I haven't the best of luck with the poly mailers, seems like every time I try that I underestimate so I always try to use the flat rate envelopes.

I would definitely ask her to fit in the cheaper box and point out that it is against eBay policy to profit off of overcharging for shipping costs. I have only had this issue once and I got ebay involved and the seller agreed to the correct shipping. If they say they will combine shipping then I expect them to be honest and follow the policies everyone agrees to when they use ebay.

*Update -
She won't take anymore off the shipping, so $24 for three pairs of jeans, and I won't ever be purchasing from her again, and she'll be receiving negative feedback. At least I'll have cute jeans

Ask nicely but firmly and remind them that they aren't allowed to profit off of shipping. Let us know how it turns out.

Id honestly be pretty pissed. I HATE ebay sellers who overcharge on shipping.

@AmeliaBedilia: @Boogs: I'm done communicating with her, digging further she has a few negatives for being rude and nasty from over a year ago. I will let EBay remind her of the rules, hopefully they'll either make her reimburse me or suspend her selling rights. I don't think they take breaking the rules lightly.
@Lovers strange: I absolutely will, it's sad that some people have to learn the hard way. I kind of Hope it does, just to teach her a lesson..

*Update
The jeans came yesterday. She paid $13.38 to ship them to me USPS Standard (the listing said they'd be shipped priority). I contacted ebay, they said to send her one last message asking why they weren't shipped priority, and they told me to ask for a refund on the overcharged portion. So that's what I've done. They said if she doesn't respond then I need to file an Item not as described case and they'll refund me then go after her.
The jeans are cute, one pair was hemmed when it was suppose to be brand new, but that's ok because I'm short

@2PeasinaPod: I hate being ripped off, I try so hard to charge actual shipping that sometimes I have to eat the difference, so when I get screwed it rubs me the wrong way!!

@StbHisMrs: Oh please, this would annoy the crap out of me! There are specific rules about not being able to profit off of shipping. Can't follow the rules, then she deserves the negative feedback!
