@swedishfish: I hate our laundry space. I may actually post another thread asking for opinions...there's just no good way to arrange it. Whoever designed it gets an F in functional spaces. Very tempting to get a stackable front load full size washer and dryer!

@Mrs.Someone: pretty sure it's a fairly cheap model. Maybe $400 new? It's 'okay' but not anything super fancy.

@wonderstruck: I'll try; it's somewhat difficult because it's a tight space with a lot of angles.

This is the best I can get :(. The dryer is currently in the middle of the kitchen.

That includes delivery, sales tax, washer hoses, stacking kit, and power plug (seriously, having to order a power plug for an electronic appliance?)

@wonderstruck: thanks, I think that would be the only way to gain space! I want those shelves gone. Like, yesterday

@woodentulip: @loveisstrange: thank you for your opinions on CD'ing and top load vs. front load! Definitely making me think twice. @woodentulip: how do you force it to empty?? I would love not to have to siphon the water out!

I visited Home Depot and Lowes today hoping that maybe they'd have a floor sample on clearance, but the only items they had were dryers (boo).

Thank you to everyone who weighed in, I really appreciate it! I just purchased the part to hopefully fix it off of Amazon. We may still end up buying a new machine if this doesn't work, but I realized two things:

1. The old school machine we have now really is best for what we need right now (a washer to clean cloth dipes).

2. The best use of the utility room space is to stack two front load machines, as @wonderstruck suggested. However, front load machines would make CDing right now very difficult. To get a new washer now means getting a top load, and it seems silly to make a long term decision for a short term application.

Hopefully the new part will fix it and it'll last a few more years until we're out of cloth dipes and can upgrade both machines :).
