What would the new commute time be?? I'd dedinity consider it!

Id probably do it... DH commutes an hour and its not so bad

I wouldn't. I hate commuting and an hour each way just cuts into family time too much!

No. Way. I SAHM but I could never get on board with it for DH's work or my future work! A 30 minute commute is my limit. I hate feeling like I'm spending a chunk of my life in the car! I don't know how big city folk do it

I commute an hour+ and work 12hr shifts. Only working 3x a week makes it tolerable.

Well....I hate commuting. I have a 30 min commute to work (including LO drop off). I would not double it for double the square footage (but that is easy for me to say, i already have 2,000 sq feet). But.....I just....i hate hate hate long commutes. Hate. I used to have an hour commute to work. I haaaaated it.

Yep I would probably do it, if he's not dealing with "rush hour" due to off time traffic and I can get my child to a house instead of an apartment, I would jump on it. I'm a person who likes space though, I didn't handle apartment living well

@googly-eyes: we just moved from just outside NYC to the burbs which almost doubled My SO's commute. We have a newborn and sometimes it really sucks that he spends an extra hour or so commuting every day, but it's great to have the space (we are finally hosting people for the holidays) and a backyard for the pooch. That said, there's also a lot more yo take care of and things to do to our house. At the end of the day though, we were going to move to the burbs at some point to raise our family.

With your husband's job, yes i would do it. Does he have a take home cruiser, or does he commute in a personal vehicle? We moved further out, but we have DH's duty vehicle that he is permitted to take home. When he works OT after an overnight shift, I always have him make sure he catches a little sleep before he drives home though.
