Say your LO pooped literally as you were on the way out the door to daycare. And say daycare is a 5 minute drive. And say your LO fights diaper changes like a gladiator. Would you change the diaper or let daycare deal with it?

I would let daycare change it. Plus, when DD poops, it usually takes a little time for her to finish...

It's happened to us before, and we just change the diaper at home. We have a million tricks to distract them though... if those didn't work, I don't know what I would do in that situation!!

If I'm lazy I will tell our babysitter when we get to her house that LO just pooped on the way there.

My DH wouldn't, but I would. I think this happened to us once actually. I would feel like a heel having them do it. If it happened again and we were running out of time, I would have them do it and explain away.

I may or may not have had this happen last week.. I got him to daycare and then said, "oh I think he needs to be changed." I know, bad mom. But getting out the house is so hard, diaper changes are awful.

@winniebee: diaper changes are AWFUL... I try the distracting techniques but nothing distracts my crazy man... he wants to roll over so he can crawl away, even if that means off the changing table.. seriously crazy man

@winniebee: I would (and have) take her to daycare and tell her teacher she needs a diaper change. They won't let us change her there. I'm usually in a rush in the AM, though and if I don't leave for daycare at 6:40, I'm late to work. It can take up to 10 minutes to get this wiggle worm out of her clothes, out of her diaper, into a new diaper and into her clothes again. Oh and then the carseat...strapping that in...yeah. Take him to daycare.

@littlek: Agree. I seriously dread diaper and clothing changes these days. It involves flipping, thrashing, throwing stuff off the changing table, yelling, crying, and crawling away when possible. I cannot stop him from flipping no matter what I do.

For the record, this DIDN'T happen to me, so it is purely hypo! BUT, before we left the house this morning I heard LO grunting and I thought he was pooping and had this very debate with myself. I had decided he was gonna get changed at daycare!

This reminds me of the time when we had a 2 hour flight to my cousins wedding when DS was 4 months old.
He pooped (both ways) in the first 15 minutes of the flight!
It was a great debate of 2012 - weather we should wait 1 hour and 45 minutes till we landed to change him or change him in the very very small airplane bathroom.
Of course we decided to just change him in the airplane bathroom and it was not that bad.
To answer you question I would probably just wait to daycare and change him there if I wasn't in a big hurry anywhere.

I would change before we left. I'd be worried about leakage on the clothes since things get all squishified in the car seat

@littlek: on suggestion of a few ladies here, last night I gave him a cup after his bath and it DID cut down on the crying and flipping...a little....but not enough that I can say it worked!

Hahaha! I totally could have written this post! This happened to me a few times (once or twice a month) and I would make daycare deal within. When dropping LO#1 off I would let them know that, "I'm pretty sure he pooped."
