I slaved over a huge batch of homemade spaghetti sauce today with a plan to freeze it. After letting it simmer all day in the crock pot, I took the lid off to let it cool before I spooned it into freezer bags. I left the room for 1 minute and returned to see the dog swiping a bite off the top of it!
I wanted to throw it all away... DH saved it and froze it! I made him label it 'dog-tainted sauce' because I'm not eating it, but he plans to! lol! Would you have saved it or thrown it away?

Umm... I'd probably eat it, but I also used to share ice cream cones with my dog if I hadn't seen her licking her butt recently...
But really, I think if you're going to freeze it, and then bring it back to a high temperature any real contaminants would be killed.

I would totally still eat it! It will be heated through enough to kill any germs anyways.

Gross, I'd throw it away. If my husband wanted to keep it, then he'd be the only one eating it.

Id eat it. I dont think any bacteria could survive the freezer and if you heat it before consumption.
However I am super lax about germs and animals , so im a little bias

I would eat it. I would put a note on it so I don't serve it to guests.

I'd eat it and wouldn't think twice about it! But...I regularly let my dog eat off my fork so I don't know if I'm the right one to answer this

I'd eat it. I would heat it to bubbling first to kill the doggie germs.

Now I'm wondering how much of our food on the stove our dog has licked without me catching him! I can't decide if that makes me laugh or grosses me out. I'm stepping up his supervision when I'm cooking!

Is dump it. Even if the germs are killed off, I'd still be grossed out. I've seen what touches my dogs tongue.

eat it because you will reheat it before using and that would kill anything that the freezer didn't already kill

I'm pretty grossed out by things my dog does, so I wouldn't eat it. But if DH wanted to, all the power to him. LOL.

And this is part of the reason why I don't eat baked goods/entrees people bring over/leave in common areas. What's okay with some people isn't okay with others, animal lovers or not!
