Hellobee Boards

I think a lot of divorces can happen when a person is "married to their job" which i think would happen a lot with politicians. They probably work long hours, travel a lot, and are hopefully passionate about certain causes and what they do. Sometimes family can get neglected in the fallout. No person is perfect, and not everyone can juggle the demands of a high profile career AND a family if they put too much emphasis on one. I'm okay with a politician who works so hard he or she forgets to make it home for dinner. Maybe not the most thoughtful person and i wouldn't want to be married to them, but that's not why I elected them.

I would elect someone who was single. I don't think a politician needs to have a family in order to understand what families are faced with today. He/she is already part of a family whether they're a son/daughter, brother/sister, uncle/aunt. While they may not understand what it's like to be married with children, they're not completely ignorant to what their parents have struggled with or any other family for that matter. Would it be fair to say that a married candidate has no idea what it's like to be a single dad/mom to understand the issues that they face as well? Not every candidate has personal experience with every issue that affects the American people.
