Mr. Bee and I were at the playground with Charlie today, and there was a manny there with a 4 year old girl. A friend of mine went through a couple of nannies before finding a manny for her daughter that she absolutely loves.
Would you hire a manny?

Hmm even though we don't hire nanny's here.... I'm not sure if I'd hire a Manny if we did. There's some sort of comfort knowning a nanny has motherly knowledge.

I agree that I would rather my nanny have a motherly instinct. There are also no men at my daughter's day care. I am cool with that!

honestly, no. I'm uncomfortable hiring nannies in the first place, so I'm extra picky/precautious about the whole thing.
when my DD first went to daycare at 9 months, there was one asst teacher there who was a male... didn't bother me though because I liked that DD was exposed to multiple caregivers in a security-camera environment. I liked the diversity of teachers (my favorite part about sending them to daycare vs just having a nanny).. Anyway, he was very dad-like with the babies.

i don't think so. i'm not comfortable with another man around the house.

I wish I was cool enough to say that I would, but alas, I'm old-school and would prefer a woman.

I'm not really sure. I've learned to not give blanket statements about what I will/won't do. I currently have a nanny 3 days a week, a woman, but the others I'm trying to get someone to come help me out -- a man. Maybe it's because he's gay and desperately wants kids that I think he'll be great?

Sure, if he just so happens to be Joey Lawrence! Topic reminds me of the show Melissa and Joey where Joey Lawrence has to take the job of being Melissa Joan Hart's "manny." He is great with the kids (2 teens), an amazing cook, and cleans the house. Sweet deal! Oh and how about Freddie Prinze Jr. on Friends as the "baby whisper?"
In the more realistic world outside of a television shows, I think I would be open to a manny but most likely favor a female nanny.

If we would ever actually hire a nanny, yes. Probably. I would do incredible amounts of checking into the person anyway, so being male or female wouldn't make a whole lot of difference.

For me I think the answer is no. I might change my mind in the future but as of right now I cant see myself hiring a Manny

this is so funny! I am watching an episode from Friends right now and it's about Ross and Rachel's manny haha..
anyhow.. I wouldn't mind at all... I think as long as he is qualified and has good references

I think I would. I don't see how its much different than having a man be a SAHD.
