My mom is having surgery on Wednesday. She will be donating a kidney & my aunt (great aunt) will be receiving one. My mom thinks it's silly I want to be there, but well I think it's a big deal so I wanna.

Problem is, it's at 7:30 in the morning in a city over 2 hours away. Going would mean that I would have to get on the road at 5 a.m. (staying the night before isn't an option) and DH is not comfortable with me going alone (I'm really not either with as sleepy/tired as I've been), also P has decided to stop drinking bm from a bottle, cup, or anything else but the boob so leaving her isn't really an option either.

I really want to go, but is it realistic to get all of us up & on the road so early? The drive isn't on any main highways either... alot of it is windy back road. I feel like if something went horribly wrong I would feel so bad not having been there, but at the same time my mom feels pretty confident her end of the surgery is pretty simple & I shouldn't stress about it.

What would you do? Would you go?

ETA: Just b/c I hadn't shared about it before.... My aunt will be receiving a kidney BUT it won't be my moms. Rather, even though my mom was a match, they decided to enter the kidney registry & they were able to find 2 other matches & 2 other recipients SO THREE people will be receiving kidneys on Wednesday! YAY! (the waiting list for a kidney is 7-8 years)
