we will restrict use of electronics everyday. I think kids these days are too addicted to tv, internet, cell phones and all the apps available and it really affects them socially. I was at the mall and met a group of teens adn they were all just hunched over the cellphones texting each other even though they were all right there! They wold rather text each other than just look up and talk face to face.
I also know kids that text each other even when they are all in the same home.

When I was growing up, my mom always made us have "Quiet time" on the weekends. We were allowed to read, or play a game, or nap, or whatever we wanted, but we had to be quiet and we couldn't watch TV or play videogames or anything. I plan to do the same with future LOs!

I should try doing the same for DH and I, sometimes I feel like we are together in the same room but in different worlds. Will definitely have to start now!

That's a great idea!! I'd love to do that! Maybe I'll implement it too. I really like it. I implemented a phone and Internet free day for a while and we really liked it! When we moved we got really busy and I completely forgot about it!

@JennyLayneAZ: We just went camping this weekend and I brought my kindle charger instead of my phone charger.... oops! It was nice not having a phone, but in my case we needed a phone because my SIL ended up having her baby a little earlier so it was a good thing DH had his.

For reasons like that I don't think I'd ever want a completely tech free day. You just never know what's going to happen, and I never want to turn off my phone. We already have rules like no cell phones at dinner even though LO is only 15 months old. I just don't want her growing up thinking it's ok to be on the phone when we're eating. I don't see us constantly being on the computer or watching tv anyway, so I don't think it will be a huge deal or that we'll have a need to make a special non tech day.

I would like to think that I could do this, but we're such tech junkies I'd have a really hard time.

i really want to do this, but with work and being home alone a lot of the time, it's really hard to implement. once DH and i get on a better schedule and he's back from school, i definitely want to do this.

I could definitely give up the phone or computer, but give up my TV??? No thank you!!!

Although I could definitely see doing this. When I visit my parents, we're tech-free the whole time (unless the radio still counts). We chat, eat good food, and play board games. It's fun!

I might be tempted to do this once a month - plan an outing for the day and then in the evening, hang out as a family and play board games or something. Not sure about every week though - that could be tough.

I would be fine but my DH would not be!! Especially during college football season. Maybe one day in the summer it would work, but only if we were physically away from home with no computers or cell service.

I love that idea!!! I think we'll do this too on Sundays! Sundays are already our church/big meal/getting organized before school & work week day, so why not make tech free family day too?

No I couldn't do it. And I know DH couldnt. The thing is when I am out with him or family I give them my whole attention. Im only a tech addict when I'm alone. DH is constantly on his phone wherever we are. I think it's so rude when we are on a date and he can't put the stupid phone down or when he has it out at family parties.
