It depends on if the middle name will be used at all, or if BJ will be a nickname. If not, then don't worry about it - I find middle names are rarely used except legally.

My initials are SWF (single white female) and nobody has ever made the connection unless I point it out first.
My lo's initials spell out AWW & I'm not concerned.

I would avoid the initials BJ for my LO.

One of DH's co workers is Benjamin something and he goes by BJ, seemingly purposefully. I think it's not that big of a deal.

I can't think of any situation where I've seen only two initials used, only three (first, middle, last) or first/last so I think it's not a big deal.

@DisneyBee: My DH's last name begins with J and he encouraged us to avoid first names that start with B, so I get where you are coming from. However, I think, as previous replies have said, that first/middle combo is less of a big deal than first/last or first/middle/last. I think it is ultimately what you are comfortable with. I don't think the first/middle combo would be a dealbreaker for me.

I'd be more concerned if his first and last initials spelled BJ. Unless you plan on having him go by both his first and middle names, I don't think it's a big deal at all. I doubt anyone would even notice.

I knew people with the initials BJ in high school and it wasn't a big deal.

My kids initials are BRF and ELF which I kind of feel bad about, lol. Oh well.

I wouldn't worry about it, some people go by BJ as a nickname! Like BJ Novak, he's awesome (The Office writer/actor).

Another vote for it doesn't matter with the first/middle name. Even with teasing/bullying, I think it's pretty uncommon for kids in school to even know each other's middle names!

I think it's fine! I'd be more worried about first + last initial combos, not first + middle.

DD's first and middle initials are BJ. We went back and forth on it for a while before she was born, but I loved the first name so much, and the J name is for DH's grandmother, and it was very important to him that DD have her name. As others have said, since it's the middle name and not first/last name, I'm hoping it won't be that big of a deal. The potential for bullying does still make me a bit nervous though.

My husbands initials are BJ- aside from that being a family nickname as a child, no one noticed it.

In what ways can a "BJ" be made fun of? "Oh BJ, you like BJs." umm... so what? Guys like bjs. I don't get it at all.

Since it's not the first and last name, but the first and middle name I think it's fine.

BJ Novak from the Office seems to be okay using the initials. If kids are going to be mean it will happen even if you didn't use the initials. If you like the J middle name more, I say go with it.
