Before moving into our house, we didn't have either and never knew what we were missing. But now that we have Tivo and a dishwasher, I can't imagine not having either one!
If I had to give up one though, I guess I'd give up the dishwasher? Ah! Can't do it....can't do it....

Dishwasher! I grew up hand washing and we still hand wash a ton. But to be able to record a show....priceless! Especially now with a LO!

That's a hard one! But probably dvr. I love tv, but I watch too much and that would help me cut down.

I don't have DVR or Tivo. I don't even have cable. Which makes that choice super easy! DH is dishwasher-dependent, though I'm not.

DVR alot of shows can be watched online anyways so if I missed something I'd probably find a site to watch it from & we hook up our laptop to our tv anyways so we could just "stream" it.
I hate dishes too much to get rid of my "lazy washer" lol

We don't watch tv, so I voted to give up the DVR, but we gave ours up a long time ago! It was hard at first, but I love our life sans television! The dishwasher is a keeper though. It saves water vs hand washing, so I'm going to pretend that's the reason it's necessary rather than just me being lazy

Considering that removing a DRV would require zero lifestyle change, I'll have to go with the DVR. 
Besides, I'd rather make time for entertainment by shortening the length of time I spend doing chores.

I have already given up my dvr for now and I would always choose my dishwasher over it lol! I hate washing dishes by hand now and would hate to go back!

At one time, I would have said dishwasher but we recently got rid of our cable so now I watch everything online. So, now I would say dvr. It is great and I do miss having one.

I lived in an an older rental house a few years ago, and there was no dishwasher. Never again. DH and I agree that the health of our marriage requires a dishwasher.

I don't understand DVR/Tivo. We watch all our shows on Netflix/Hulu, so, as many episodes as we want, straight in a row, on-demand. You just have to have the patience to wait until the season's over.
We went a full year without using our dishwasher and it wasn't a big deal, but I do kind of love it. We use it a lot now, and it helps me feel better about making dinners that use every pot, pan, and gadget in the kitchen. Cooking is fun.

Easy one- we don't have Tivo/DVR, we aren't big tv people either. I love my dishwasher too much! Give me the choice between air conditioning and dishwasher, and the dishwasher would be history...
Our dishwasher broke a few months ago... I didn't really wash any dishes so my husband would get us a new one sooner. I cook, and he washes so I will continue to cook. We ended up getting a much higher end Bosch dishwasher since it was an outgoing floor model- I love it!

we have both and use neither, but if you count netflix and consider that i use our dish washer as a dryingrack, i guess i'd rather have cupboard space for the dishwasher, and watch my blu rays from netflix...

The dishwaster, I catch myself washing dishes by hand most of the time anyways just so they are done and really clean!

I'd rather give up the dishwasher. I LOVE my DVR and can't live without it, haha.
Plus some things you have to wash by hand anyway (or is that just me) and I could easily get into the habit of just doing the dishes every night if I had to. Figuring out how to use a VCR again... not a chance.

The DVR in a heartbeat. I despise washing dishes with every fiber of my being. It is my most hated chore. Well, it is a tie with laundry, sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, and vacuuming.

We don't have cable (Netflix for the win!) so DVR is not something we need or use. But, man, our dishwasher is the BOMB. The survival of my marriage is completely dependent on having a working dishwasher.

We don't have TV at home now, but we have netflix. If Netflix is equivalent to a DVR then I say dishwasher because I hand wash my dishes most of the time any way.

Our TV is hooked up to a computer (we have no DVR, no cable, etc.) so giving up DVR/Tivo is kind of a moot point.
I'd rather give up the TV screen than the dishwasher, but if it came down to something like laptop vs. dishwasher, I would wash dishes by hand...

I cannot live without DVR. I think I have gained some of my life back not having to watch commercials!!
I would get rid of the dishwasher and use paper plates and cups!!!

DVR for sure. We didn't have a dishwasher at the last place, and I didn't have one at my apartment before then either. I can't live without it, washing dishes by hand is such a pain in the butt. We like the DVR and everything, but could live without it.

we don't have either one, although dvr would probably be hulu plus for me, so yeah, i would give up the dishwasher that i don't have for hulu plus!

I just gave up DVR and don't miss it one bit. It's really nice not having it actually!
I would probably give up almost anything before getting rid of the dish washer. WE both work full time so having to do dishes would just cut into our free time too much.

I love DVR! We rarely use our dishwasher so I wouldn't even notice if it was gone
