Would you rather LO wake up once, for a couple hours straight, or several times over the course of the night but only long enough to nurse and go right back down?

Um, neither.
But seriously, several times. The prolonged wakeups give me major anxiety: "we'll never sleep again!"

once. i prefer continuous sleep! also if she's awake for a really long time, I wake dh up to take over and I get to go back to sleep. if she wakes multiple times, that means I'm on duty since she nurses. even if I just send dh in there bc she just nursed recently, he doesn't wake up when she starts crying--I have to wake him

Several times with immediate return to sleep. This is,what we had - up 5 times a night for dummy (paci) reinsertion - and I was always so pleased she went back to sleep.

Several times... But I will say that this is our reality (I'm usually up 2-3 short nursing sessions a night) and depending on how they are spaced out, it is really disruptive to my sleep. Lately my kids have been getting up one each hour for the 2nd half of the night (i.e. A up at 1:30, B at 2:30, A at 3:30, B at 4:30 then all up at 6) and its so hard to only get 45 min at a time. I sort of think my brain has been permanently damaged from the sustained sleep deprivation.

Several times for sure! She slept next to me so it was so easy to just pop the boob in and we both passed back out! I've had those wake once but for 1-2 hrs and they were NOT fun!

This is my two children. The first wanted to nurse for an hour several times a night, while my second is a 5-10 minute nurser. Even when my first was down to just one wake-up it was still devastating to my metal state. I'm coping really well with the multiple short wake-up, though. I just latch her on and go right back to sleep.

yeah...I agree. I miss the quick multiple wakeups. my 9 month old has decided she likes to stay awake for 1-3 hours a night, usually around midnight. gah. so exhausted.. she also gets up every 2-3h in addition to that.

Several times, but after a while not falling into a deep sleep does really wear on you. I think if I can get 4 hours consecutive I feel ok. Anything less than that I'm kinda a mess.

After nursing my LO from 12:30-2:30 last night I definitely prefer several, quick wake ups! My butt is sore today!

One extended wake up. I have a really hard time falling asleep so when there are several wake ups I tend to not even get a chance to fall back to sleep between them!

Several, as long as I'm prepared for it and have a bottle by the bed. Though the one long wouldn't be terrible I think, except for the fear that she'll never go back down.

Several times. We had two 1.5 hour wakeups last night that almost broke me.
