I would recommend our hospital to anyone who was high-risk. But not to the average parent about to give birth.

My husband doesn't want me to return to the hospital that my daughter was born at. There were 6 babies that were born the same day. I was the only non C-section and they nursing staff was stretched extremely thin.
I asked for a lactation consultant or nurse to come help me 5 times before anyone got to me- and having your BF questions answered at 3 AM isn't ideal. I on the other hand really like my OB so I am torn since she isn't affiliated with any other hospital in the area.

I would definitely recomend my birthing center to my close friends or family! Though they don't do pain meds so it isn't for everyone...

Definitely, It's a bit out of the way, but the maternity ward is top-notch with all-private rooms, a room-service style menu (with pretty decent food), and a very friendly and supportive staff.

I've given birth at two different hospitals so far and I would recommend the second one over the first. Bigger rooms and the nurses were much more involved (although not enough probably, but more than the first place). If someone is looking to give a hospital birth, I would recommend it.
But I myself would probably go to a birthing center (next door to a hospital) next time around.

While both hospitals here have really nice suites and I know many of the nurses, I also know that they both have about a 25% cesarean rate..... because of that I don't think I could suggest them to anyone. =/

I don't know yet as I haven't had my baby (January), but I will say that I was pleased with the birthing classes offered and the tour of the maternity ward. That being said, I'm nervous that private post-partum rooms are first come first served (I don't want to share a room) and I wish there were more "services" offered, even if I had to pay out of pocket. But I completely realize that the basic needs are taken care of and my desire for the extras is a luxury request and not a basic need.
If anyone has any personal experience at Beth Israel Medical Center in NYC - please let me know!
