At my twins' 4 month appointment, the ped said I just wasn't producing enough milk for both of them and their weight gain wasn't where it should be. After that appointment she told me to tandem breastfeed first and then supplement with formula and to come back for weekly weight checks. In one week they each gained a pound. The following week they gained almost close to another pound each. Now I'm back to work and I tandem nurse in the morning and supplement with formula. Our au pair gives them formula throughout the day. At bedtime, I nurse one baby and DH gives the other baby any milk I pumped at work that day. I pump 3 times a day and am only getting about 6-10 oz. I really enjoy nursing them but pumping at work is so much effort for such little output.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? What did you do?
Should I keep up this routine until my supply completely dries up or should I just call it quits and enjoy the time that I was able to nurse?
