We were given a used potty -Bjorn- would you use it?
Why or why not? Can't I just clean and sterilize?

From a friend/relative, if they kept things clean then yes. I would just sterilize it.

Yep, I'd just clean it well. Not that the kid would be gross, but you never know what could come riding on it from someone's house. In other words, like BAO said, if they are clean.lol

@MsMamaBear: @Bao: haha yup, they are very clean people otherwise I would have chucked it!

@mrbee: haha
I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I'm missing!
Going to clean & sterilize it tonight then!

In the end, I would. That reminds me - I still have mine. I should try to give it away.

I wouldnt, but I'm not a fan of potties in the first place. we use a potty seat that goes on the top of the toilet seat

@Mrsbells: but then you have to help her up, right? I want her to be able to just "go" by herself.

yup i wouldn't care. i'm sure ours will still be in good enough condition to pass on once olive is through with it. charlie barely used it a couple of times before preferring the regular toilet.

I use a potty seat too. It didn't take long before she was able to sit on the toilet by herself with a step stool.

@BoogieBea: what if she falls into the toilet?!?! haha

Sure. We barely used ours and it looks brand new for when we potty train DD2.

No. I didn't but I loved the BabyBjorn potty we bought. I even changed the toilet seats when we bought our house.

I'm about to pull out DD's old stuff (Baby Bjorn seat, Dora potty top) for DS. So no issues here.

Yes. I don't think it's a big deal. Her pee/poop isn't any more sterile than the previous kid!

I would, but DH wouldn't. We discussed this after a friend offered us their potty, but we had already bought one.

I don't think I would. Logically I know it doesn't really matter but I don't know... Just a certain Ick factor to it. Plus potties aren't too expensive so I wouldn't mind just buying a new one.

If I would use the regular toilet at the home of the person who gave it to me, I see no issue with letting my kid use the little potty. As long as it's cleaned well, it's probably a lot more sanitary than most toilets out there!

if it was from someone i know(close friend/family) but i know i wouldn't be able to use one from someone i didn't know(just personal preference)

Yes I would. I don't understand the problem if you clean/sterilize it. Then again, I also buy second hand clothes and would buy used cloth diapers and feel comfortable washing them to use for LO.

I bought mine at a resale store, so clearly. I just washed it with bleach, which I honestly worried more about.

I would use it from a family member or friend. I just don't think I would buy it second hand from someone I don't know. Plus Craigslist people try to sell for the same price as Amazon.
