I just read the most recent US Weekly (yes I have a subscription), and it featured Kourtney Kardashian and her new baby on the cover. In the interview, she said she pulled Penelope out, just like she did with Mason.
Would you want to pull your own baby out? They put a mirror down there and I saw Olive's head, but I don't think I'd want to pull her out for fear of hurting her!

i used to think that it would really neat to pull the baby out, but honestly, now that he/she is really coming, i think i'm too scared! i don't want to hurt the baby!

Nope! I didn't want to be involved. I declined the mirror too but I only pushed for 15 mins since my son was a peanut. If I ha trouble pushing I would have taken the mirror though.

Of course, absolutely! I plan to have a water birth and I'll be pulling my own baby up to my chest, unless there is a complication. I'll also have a mirror to watch crowning.
My midwife says that unless there is a problem, she'll stay hands off and let me dry off and warm up the baby myself, and keep it on my chest for as long as I want.

I actually wish that DH could "pull" or "catch" LO! I think I may be too overwhelmed at the moment with pushing and the baby being born to pull her out!

Yes! I would love to! I'm going for a super natural birth even though we will be in a hospital. Pulling our LO out probably won't be an option.

@Arden: that's what I did! I would say "catch" rather than "pull" it's not like I grabbed her and yanked her out!

They asked if I wanted to 'reach down and feel his head' and I said no way to that too. It was all just a little too crazy even though it was happening to me.

I pulled my daughter out with my midwife coaching. It wasn't like I yanked her out or anything, I was on my final push and she went "reach down and get your baby!" so I did! I just remember hooking my thumbs under her arms and they guided her to my chest for skin to skin snuggles.

No way. I didn't want a mirror to see, I didn't want to be involved in that way. I just needed to focus on pushing and breathing.

I won't actually be *pulling* the baby out of the birth canal (obviously!), but it's likely I'll be the one to catch them/guide them out. That's one of the cool parts of the unmedicated/natural birth deal; the mom or dad is normally the one to handle the baby upon delivery.

Had sections with both boys so I don't know. Maybe? But I think I would fear of dropping the baby. Haha!

ummm not sure... I like what @arden described, but "pull your baby out" sounds completely different lol
but after having given birth, I definitely could not have done it! I was in WAY too much pain and my stomach was way too big for me to reach down there. AND I had to labor/birth on my back and my side so I wouldn't have been able to anyhow.

@Boogs: She had a hospital birth. She attended a water birth but in the end decided she wasn't comfortable with an out-of-hospital setting.

I did!
And I got to warm her and wipe her off on my chest myself. Nurses didn't take her for over an hour!

I don't think I could, just judging by how out of it I was when this LO was born. I know I took her right away and that she was cleaned up on my chest, but she flew out in one big push so there was no time for pulling or catching!

I think the idea is awesome...but knowing me, I'll be too panicked about his size and fragile bones to do it. I am hoping to be calm and serene (in general) but I won't be calm enough to just grab him.

Yikes, no. I gave the mirror two seconds thought while I was in labor then just decided nah, not important to see her until she's out.

It's more like you just reach down and get the baby when you're at the very end of your marathon of pushing, and you have a team of people (in my case nurse, husband, midwife) right there guiding your hands and making sure the baby isn't going anywhere but your arms. I declined the mirror too with both deliveries. But when they told me "This is it, last push and she's here!" I was so ready for the end reward of all that pain all I could think was GIMME THAT BABY!
