I am supposed to have a membrane sweep today at 39+1. Cervix is favorable with baby low. I think there is a decent chance of going into labor. It would be, by all accounts, more convenient to have to the baby this week rather than at my induction next Monday- DH is home this week, as are my parents for childcare for Ds1. Inlaws have flights booked to come here Thursday. We'd get the tax credit for having him before 1/1. BUT, I have bronchitis. No fever and it isn't bacterial. Doctor said my cold just went into my bronchial tubes because I'm run down with pregnancy. (They checked my white blood cells). Would you scrap the sweep today and hope to hold off til you felt better? Knowing it would be less convenient in all other ways? Or just do the sweep and see what happens?

Will you have any help next week? I had recently recovered from a cold before having G, but then came down with another one after she was born and it sucks being sick on top of dealing with no sleep. I feel like I'm never going to kick this cold because I'm never resting and am so run down as it is.
So if you will have any help I think I'd try to wait and get better first. But if it will be just you and the toddler and baby, I'd probably give it a shot and just cross your fingers the sickness goes away.

@Foodnerd81: well I'm sure DH would still take time off to help but he has off this week anyway, and next week he's need to take PTO. We'd have more help this week.

@travellingbee: I think I would probably wait. This really sucks being sick! But I also have a pretty difficult baby.

I'd go for it this week, with bronchitis there is no guarantee you will feel better next week, it's usually a lingering sickness! I think the extra help + them giving you fluids will help you feel better in the long run.

Doing the sweep is no guarantee of labor. So I would try it, see what happens and if you're really ready, maybe you avoid the induction!

I would probably go ahead and do the sweep. There's no guarantee it will work, just like there's no guarantee you'll feel better next week.

Well, we did it. Dr thought it was fine. So now we wait.
