Just saw a commercial with a couple sitting on a white colored couch in a room with light colored furniture.
I told the DH that it would be our nightmare to live in a living room like that.

I love the way light furniture looks.... absolutely not practical with a toddler. My dark gray couches look dingy now. I cant even imagine white, cream or light beige.

I am in no way coordinated enough to handle light colored clothing, let alone furniture. Plus we are pet people, so that's just asking for trouble!

When we retire and are childless..is when we will buy our white sofa set... they look so crisp and clean.. Love them.

Love the look but ugh, we have a very light beige couch and it started to get dingy even before DS made his arrival.

I think they look nice, but I would be worried about keeping tj clean! We do have white dining room chairs. We'll probably have to get a different colored slip cover once we have kids, or I will get better at getting stains out of fabric!

I don't think we could ever pull it off (kids or no kids). But it really does look nice.

We have light beige, it's so hard to keep clean with a toddler. Our next couch will be darker.

We don't even have kids yet and we decided it's a no for us. We originally had the beige cover on our Ikea couch, but before too long we ended up buying the dark blue cover to switch it.

We have a beige linen sectional, I love it. I always get sofa where I can wash the covers so we have no problems with it.

Definitely not for us, especially with a toddler and pets, but my ILs have light cream couches that look great in their space (they accessorized the room with darker browns, mustards and reds).

I would love it - not white though. But DH is vehemently against them. Perhaps because he drops popcorn and chips all over our sofas.

We have a white leather couch. I'm not a fan because it often looks dingy. A magic eraser cleans it up in a jiffy, though its probably not that great for the leather.

We have a light grey couch and much of our furniture is white. No one is allowed to eat near the couch though. And I also don't let DS eat anywhere but the kitchen.

We are picking out furniture right now and originally I wanted very light-like cream, but with a baby realized that would be impossible to keep clean

I wouldn't do white/cream, but I'm thinking lightish fabric for our new house.

We have a couple off-white sofas, but one is in a wing of the home with doors that we keep closed and the other is in our bedroom so they don't get much use.

My parents have a light beige sectional that has washable slipcovers for the cushions and it looks great. It's held up really well with their dogs and we'll see how it handles small children over the next few years between DD and my sister's twin boys.

@shopaholic: I had to lol at this! This is me and DH, totally! Thank heavens our covers are washable!

I wouldn't mind a light gray linen but I don't like white on white.

We have a cream ikea couch with a machine washable cover. I love it! It's gotten chocolate/blood/baby poop on it but it washes right out.

I love white clothes, even for kids, bc they can be bleached. Sofas, not so much. Maybe in the future when we are through the toddler years I'd consider white/cream leather that is easy to clean, but I still can't imagine a white fabric. Maybe it's because I live in a city so my feet get filthy when I wear sandals or even flats/heels w/o socks....I'm envisioning forgetting to wash my feet when I get home and rubbing street grit all over my gorgeous (hypothetical) furniture!
