Hi everyone! I'm fiiinally taking advantage of a lurker amnesty week to come out of hiding My name is Karen, I live in the Bay Area and have a sweet 7-month old boy. I literally lurked through TTC, my entire pregnancy, and the last 7 months. These boards have been so helpful (and reassuring!) and it's definitely time to give back!

I meant to join up right after my baby boy was born in July, but we got a big surprise when we found out the day after he was born that he has no vision in his right eye. That eye is also smaller than normal. We had no idea about his eye issue until that day, so it was a big shock to adjust to as first-time parents. We eventually were able to rule out the big nasty causes like cancer, and it seems like it was just a developmental fluke in utero. He'll wear a shell over his eye when he's older, mainly for cosmetic purposes. Anyway, the reason I include that in my intro is that I remember desperately wishing I had someone to talk to who had gone through something similar. I eventually found a couple groups online, but if anyone's received a surprising diagnosis for their baby, I'm happy to chat and/or empathize!

Thanks everyone...looking forward to jumping in
