Thanks for the head's up! I just bought it. DH started trying to use Mint again last night and I just do not like that program. So hopefully this will help us get things back on track spending-wise!

How does YNAB work if you don't have a set income each month? I am salaried, but DH is commission-based, so his paychecks fluctuate week from week. We have an idea of a range they normally stay within, but never know for sure the month before what he will make.

jk. In all seriousness p, it has completely changed my mindset about budgeting. I love that it does roll overs, that it gives you flexibility to change around your budget numbers so you don't feel like a "failure" if you overspend in a category, all the free support offered on their website, the ease and intuitiveness of the program, all the pie charts that track everything, and I can go on! I really believe in their four rules (you can read it on ther site).

@sunshineandsushi: tracking income in ynab is actually really easy. usually any type of income we get, we just input it as "income for whatever month it is"… and that number will add to that top section where it shows "available to budget" -- here's a typical ynab screen (pic found on google images):
you readjust your budget categories each month based on your income. ideally, you would already have a buffer in place so you start off the month in the green (essentially, you're living off last month's income instead of living off anticipated paychecks)… and you budget whatever money you have at the beginning of the month until you net a zero (one of their 4 rules is "give every dollar a job").

@Mrs. High Heels: Okay, so as we get his paychecks, we can adjust it so it tracks correctly. Cool! I am excited to try this out once I get home and can install it! I admit, the $60 price tag held me up before, so I'm glad I got to snag it for $15 instead. Thanks!
