@cmomma17: Even if you can't get to your YNAB software, there still may be a few things you can gather (just in excel or somewhere).

First is a balance of your accounts and maybe your July transactions if you want to go ahead and download them.

Second is your rough budget of categories and amounts.

Maybe you can work or think about that?

I had a pretty specific question that maybe other 'bees can help with so I posted a new thread. I would appreciate feedback though! http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/saving-for-a-rainy-daybudgeting-for-annual-expenses-ynab-or-other

Ugh. Just a quick budget related whine.
So yesterday we picked my DH's jeep after getting $200+ worth of repairs done on it (and we paid for repairs the month before, and a few months before that .... money pit!). I turned my car off for TWO MINUTES and when I tried to turn it back on it was dead. It worked this morning after being jumped, but there is definitely an issue there (something we have already paid to have repaired once in the past). So yay, MORE car repairs!
This is why we really need to buckle down with a budget, meal planning, etc. We need to replace two vehicles, we need a bigger place to live .... the list goes on.
I tried to work on YNAB this morning at home and couldn't connect to the internet to check some balances online. My computer is on it's last legs. DH got really upset trying to fix it, he said "If one more thing we own breaks!!!!"
    So frustrating.

My car is still hanging in there, fingers crossed I can go a little longer without paying for major repairs!

I was able to add all of my accounts to YNAB last night. So I am counting Wednesday July 17, 2013 as DAY 1!
This morning I budgeted my available funds, didn't get very far! Lol DH gets paid again tomorrow though.

Question - I added credit card balances yesterday, then this morning I got hit with a finance charge on one of the cards. How do I update to reflect that? @mrs.highheels? @T.H.O.U.?

@cmomma17: It may depend how you are handling your credit cards. But basically just add another transaction on the "account balance" to increase the balance of the card.

@T.H.O.U.: I added scheduled transactions back into my YNAB last night - thanks for figuring that out!

@cmomma17: I would do exactly what @T.H.O.U.: suggested. I always add everything manually anyway. How do you like ynab so far after playing around with it? Is DH on board too?

@Mrs. High Heels: I've only had a few minutes here and there to play with it, but I really like it so far. I downloaded the mobile apps to our phones and ipads this morning.
DH is not on board. His kids are still with us for another 2 weeks and his idea of quality time is spending money on eating out. So no chance of a budget for the rest of July. We will also need time to sit down and talk YNAB methodology. He was excited about the app, but doesn't understand it's not our checking account balance he's looking at ...

Thanks for the encouragement ladies! I think I'll try to sit down with DH tonight to look at it some!

And I'll have to back track here & read more in this thread too (it seems like lots of questions asked & answers given!)

Just used the app to add transactions for the first time, fun!
Okay not fun watching a budget category go into the red or seeing my debt # increase, but fun to use none the less! lol

@runsyellowlites: I would say don't feel like it's all or nothing! I am getting into it very slowly due to a lack of time! But I know I will learn it all eventually and it will be worth it!
I got an email from YNAB about referring people - you'd get $6 off if I send you the link, message me if you're interested! (that goes for everyone!)

@runsyellowlites: Good luck. I think I am trying for baby steps. So first step is just tracking expenses and categorizing them. After that I will really tackle debt and staying on budget.
