Just for fun, what would your dream backyard have and what would it look like?
I would love a private backyard that is mostly garden, with a nice covered patio, a fireplace and a hot tub! I'd love the patio area to be big enough to be used for different kind of entertaining.

Oh man... my dream backyard would be huge! I'd love to live on .5 acre or more and have a ton of trees for shade, covered patio with ceiling fans and a pool! I live in TX, so I need a backyard that will stay cool, hence the shade, fans, and pool.

80% garden with mature trees, a greenhouse/conservatory, and a kick-a** fire pit! I'd seriously love to live at a place like Longwood Gardens.

Haha. Our current backyard is pretty awesome. It backs to woods, we have lined the sides of our yard with bushes that have grown tall and wide. Now all we need is a patio and, it's our dream backyard (minus the neighbors on either side).

Grrr our backyard is horrible. We even paid $600 for sod this past year that is all dead.
We have some gorgeous tress that give privacy and shade. We are on over half an acre so its a good size but no landscaping.
Honestly, it just needs a good chunk of change dumped into it and we don't have the money.

@Thehistoryofus: Same here! We have .4 acres and it's a wasteland of crabgrass. We had to tear out most of the foundation plantings because they were so overgrown, and there's one dinky ornamental tree. I grew up on a .25 lot with 40 trees, so the emptiness drives me NUTS!

HUGE! Firepit, hot tub, inground pool, big deck for entertaining, plenty of grass for kids to run around in, swing/play set.
Our backyard will soon have all that and even a willow tree for a treehouse.
