I'm throwing a shower soon, and I'm looking for ideas outside of your normal fruit tray/tea sandwich menu! What do you like to eat at parties and showers?

Meatballs...I love sweet and tangy meatballs Thanks to another HB thread I now know how to make them myself.
Cold orzo salads-all varieties.

Pasta salad, egg rolls (they're good hot or cold!), cheesesticks, pizza, nachos/chips and dip, fried rice, beef sticks...

I'm a fan of real food at showers. My favorites were sandwiches, meatballs, salads, a veggie tray, chips/dip and a few sweets.

I love anything on a skewer - especially tomatoes/mozzarella/basil.
Also, miniature anything is so much fun! And I agree on the 'real food' thing - anything more than just chips and candy is wonderful. -
Traditional lemonade

@grizz: a local pizzeria makes garlic rolls - humongous garlic knots essentially. My mom got a bunch for my bridal shower, cut them in half, put some grilled chicken and fresh mozzarella on, and made sandwiches with them. They are sooooo delicious.

Love mozzarella tomato basil salad/skewers.

A friend of mine made home made salsa to go with chips, a brownie trifle, a veggie tray with hummas, and fruit punch/7-up with rainbow ice cream (the ice cream melts and gets foamy) for my shower (I know it sounds like an 8 year olds birthday) but all of it was SO good!! I scarfed it down!!

Real food and anything hot! Most things are cold and refrigerated. I second the meatball suggestion!

A good salad is nice, plus i like cocktail meatballs! Anything 'real food'ish is good!

anything mini..then it feels like i'm not eating as much, though i know i'm totally eating more!
mini quiche, mini taquitos (with quac!), mini grilled cheese, and mini desserts!

I also like real food. Once I went to a baby shower and they had mac & cheese because it was her biggest craving. I also have been to a couple where they had brisket sliders, those were so yummy!
