We are prepping our home for sale and need to deep clean the bathrooms. We don't have a cleaning service so this is on me. What are your favorite deep cleaning supplies? I have a shower stall that has grime build-up on it and a garden tub that has some odd stains on it. Tips on how to clean them and with what?

My tub had SO MUCH SCUM on it from the previous owners that no commercial cleaner was touching it. I mixed this up, sprayed it on, let it sit, and it all came off with barely any hard scrubbing. I've done it a couple of times since then to keep it at bay, but the difference was UNBELIEVABLE. I don't know about the stains, you might need to have it reglazed if they don't come out.

@mediagirl: Ajax powder is the best thing I've ever used for cleaning a shower. All the liquids and sprays dont do much but the power works wonders

@mediagirl: Yep. Heat the vinegar, mix it up in a spray bottle, spray, let sit for an hour, scrub. Seriously, it was amazing. I was 31 weeks pregnant when I tried it and I didn't have any trouble at all. It's strong smelling, but it got the job DONE.
ETA: I used Target's blue soap instead of name-brand Dawn.

@avivoca: that blogger is terrible at explaining things. I read that post and another one on her "miracle cleaner" and left knowing nothing more than that she has a chi hair straightener. lol. Thank you, I'll try that option!
@Mrsbells: we have that and I have tried it. It worked okay but it still left scum.

@mediagirl: I haven't tried it but maybe a magic eraser would work on the stains?
Is the shower glass or fiberglass? If glass try Bar keepers friend - that gets off all the soap scum and hard water (might work on fiberglass too but I haven't tried it)

I used the blue dawn + vinegar + magic eraser for the triple whammy. It's amazing.

When I moved into my old house, we thought the shower was gray.
After taking the blue scrubbing bubbles foam cleaner to it and wiping it off with a magic eraser, we found out it was just grimy.

@avivoca: I'm going to need to try this vinegar/dawn trick!! Do you think it has to be dawn dish soap? I have the costco brand dish soap that I normally just use (ie. I have a boatload of it!) Think that might work??

@MrsBrewer: Probably. I used Target brand blue soap and it worked wonders.

@avivoca: i may have to try that!! We have really rusty pipes, so we get the nasty orange stained stuff on our tub if I don't clean it once a week!

@Mamaof2: Magic. Absolutely magic. I tried the dawn/vinegar trick and it got scum off. The eraser made the shower like new again!

@mediagirl: Nice! Need to go buy me this magic mix tomorrow. Since having kids I rarely clean our tub and I def need something that I don't need to spend so much time squatting in there scrubbing!
