Let's assume that all legal and financial documents are safe in a fireproof safe (e.g. passport, will, etc.).
Beyond that, I would probably grab photos that Bee has in a box. And maybe my laptop/iPad, just because that's portable but high value. Although to be honest, if the fire was serious, I would just leave right away.
Assuming your family and pets (and documents) are safe, what do you take out of the house in the event of a fire?

If my pets and husband are out...so am I. We have insurance so I wouldn't risk my life for anything. If I remembered and it was close by, I'd make sure I had my wedding rings.

I'd try to grab our external hard drive. It has all of our important documents and photos on it.

I'd grab our wedding album and lap top since it holds all our photos. Our LO's have a special box that has their firsts (such as the outfit home from the hospital, hair from first hair cut and even their umbilical stump)...I'd really want to have those but I think the photos would be more important.

@mrbee: I'm actually thinking of setting up a mirror with a friend. A little more work, but I hate the idea of paying $300-$400/yr+ in perpetuity for a subscription service when I have the skill to do something else

The two big scrapbooks I have done of our lives together are in a bookshelf right by the front door. If we could go out that way, I would grab them. My wedding rings, as well if possible.

Funny story about this actually. My dad is huge on food storage and emergency preparedness, we always have discussions about this kind of stuff. When I was 15 we had a mock fire drill, we had 5 minutes to meet in the family room with what we would take.
My younger sister brings her bible, scrapbooks and memory box.
My 2 brothers bring similar things.
I went straight to my closet and opened my arms wide and picked off like 100 hangered items. And just ran down stairs. I have no idea why I didn't think to bring my 72 hr kit or anything.
Anyways we still joke about that today as a family.

I'd probably just leave, fires freak me out completely. Every thing in my house can be replaced.

We have all our files backed up online and I could probably get my wedding album reprinted anyway. I would grab my rings, phone, and purse if I had the time. But everything can be replaced so I could just leave.

We live on the top floor of an apartment, so hopefully we'd have a few minutes to get out. I'd grab a few things:
1) Box with s.s. cards, birth certificates, etc
2) Cell
3)Hubs' box of valuable/favorite baseball cards (hey, some are valuable - so he says)
I realize that if LO were here, this list would change to include her diaper bag or momentos about her, but she's not here yet.

Old picture frames pre-digital era. We have a bunch of pictures from when we were younger and family photos etc.

Hmm. We are about to get a fireproof safe, but it's one of those itty bitty ones, so I'd probably grab that Then.. my hard drive with all my pictures on it.. my photo books & albums, and my husband's guitars I'd cry really, REALLY hard about my books, but I'd know I couldn't grab all of them.

I actually had a chance to think about this when our fire alarm went off in the middle of the night and we all had to wait outside on the sidewalk in the middle of winter (awesome). It turned out to be nothing, but we were outside for a while and I was most upset that I didnt have my wedding rings and my phone. My rings, sentimental reasons, though of course they are also expensive! And my iphone has tons of pictures, though nothing I couldn't live without, but I also don't know anyone's phone number anymore!
Everything else is replaceable. Our wedding album we created online, so we could easily print an exact replica.

i remember we had a false alarm at an apartment i was at. i thought there was a fire, so i grabbed my laptop and ran out lol. so i guess my computer/laptop. actually, the desktop is too bulky so even though it's crazy expensive, maybe just the external harddrive.

My cousin was in a fire and just took the bedsheet. Apparently she sleeps nakey. So clothing would be high on my list. Hubs and furbabes of course but everything else is replaceable...maybe I'd grab the car keys.

Let's see....our laptop and camera to save all the photos, DD's baby book, this plate my mom gave me when I got engaged that she got from her mom when she got engaged, that she got from her mom, etc. (It goes back reeaalllly far). Beyond that....nothing else!

My laptop and my jewelry! DH would grab our server, his laptop, and his DSLR camera probably.
