What are your kids' birth stones? Is there more than one option when you research your lo's stones? I thought June was pearl but I just went and googled it and found two other stones for June - Alexandrite and Moonstone. Huh. Which do you pick if you have an option?

LO #1: Peridot birthstone (August)
LO #2: Emerald birthstone (May)I have a mother's ring with Tsavorite for LO #1. My second mother's ring will probably be emerald. Two green gemstones for different kids.

DD#1 - Sapphire...she was due in August, but born in September...
DD#2 - schedule for March (Aquamarine)...would be Amethyst if she comes early
Some months have multiples...

DS is Tanzanite. I think there are "alternative" stones for most months! I think turquoise is an alternative to tanzanite for December.

LO1 is topaz/citrine.
LO2 is zircon/tanzanite/turquoise.I haven't really picked one since I don't have any jewelry with either stone for me or them. I would probably just pick whatever I thought was prettier.
@mediagirl: if I had your choices, I would pick alexandrite. I love those and think it's so cool that they change colors depending on the light. I have one from my grandmother and it can be purple, bluish-green or brown depending on the type of light we're in.

I was born in June and my birthstone is a pearl. I say stick with the pearls

My son was also born in June. My bday is also in June, and we always picked pearls because alexandrite is much harder to find and is so expensive.

LO1 is ruby and LO2 is opal or pink tourmaline.

@BelugaBean: Pink tourmaline! Tourmaline is one of my favorite gemstones. It's so pretty.

@cascademom: I love both but most things have pink tourmaline as the option. I think opal is more delicate? Either way tourmaline is beautiful!

Peridot and sapphire- I think those are the only options for each month.

@BelugaBean: I think Opal is a softer gemstone in general. I think its softness is similar to a pearl.

I'm a traditionalist in this regard, I don't love the primary stones for my girls but it's what I use in my jewelry.
August - Peridot
November - Citrine (I love Topaz, which is the alternate, but I didn't know it until I just now googled and I already have a couple of birthstone items). -
Two peridots and a citrine (was supposed to be garnet).

Mine is a diamond and so is LOs.

DD and me are both aquamarine, DS is emerald.

LO 2 is Diamond

LO is a December baby (zircon, tanzanite, or turquoise). I guess turquoise is the best of the three, but I'm not crazy about any of them.
My birthstone is diamond, which is boring.

My daughter has peridot, for august. I have a May birthday, so emerald. And as luck would have it, I'm not a fan of green, so don't much like either.

I'm not a big jewelry person by nature but would choose a ring if anything. Maybe I should consider a necklace??

DD1's is blue topaz or turquoise. I love both colors, but for jewelry I prefer blue topaz. I have multiple pieces with the stone. DD2's birthstone is conveniently a diamond:). Which is going to work out well for all parties involved. My husband actually bought me my first diamond earrings for Christmas bc of this...

DS is topaz/citrine. I don't like citrine much so I've been doing London Blue Topaz in jewelry so far.

DD1 is emerald. Waiting to see if DD2 will be garnet or amethyst since I am due in a little over a week.
@AngelicOne: I love London blue topaz and have a right hand ring with that stone! So pretty. I have a December birthday and always though blue topaz was one of my options (don't see it mentioned here, though for Dec!).

@bisous: I have a LBT right hand ring too that I got before DS came along & loved the color. As for which month blue topaz belongs to, it apparently depends on who you ask. LOL it seems every has a different opinion as to whether it Nov or Dec. DS was actually due the beginning of Dec, so I guess it covers both for me
