What do you do first?
Mine are on their way...I did the dishes and put away a wine glass and shot glass so my mom doesn't make any assumptions (I went to pour a glass of wine last night and there was only a sip left so I made myself a margarita instead). I picked up the toys and wiped the counters down. That's good enough!

I would focus on the kitchen - wipe down counters and sweep the floors - make sure dishes are washed and put away

First I make sure the bathroom is clean, or at least the sink & toilet! 
and then I clean up the kitchen if needed. If there's still time, make the dog hasn't left paw prints on the couch!

Run around like a maniac!!! Wipe the counters, dishes outta the sink, wipe the bathroom down, clean up the toysplosion and maybe get a vacuum in!! Clearing off the kitchen table would be last! Also I would basically ignore my children for the 15 mintues to try and get that all done!

No tidying needed up if my parents come over
If my inlaws come over, I just need to make sure toilets are clean and flushed! DD doesn't flush the toilet after she goes

DH just did a deep clean yesterday so my place is spotless. I'd take out the empty wine bottle that is on the counter.

I would make sure the guest bathroom is good to go, throw LOs toys into the toybox, probably take out trash....and somehow hide the clean clothes in our room that I never hang up.

I'd spend about 5 minutes getting dog hair off the furniture. That stuff just gets everywhere.

Priority #1 is to make sure the bathroom is clean! Dishes are #2. Then I just tidy up everything else as quickly as possible.

My parents: throw clutter in a closet, grab the dog hair dust bunnies, put on normal clothes
In-laws: Turn off all the lights and hide in the bathroom and pretend I'm not home - it takes hours to prepare for a visit from them. She stops just short of putting on white gloves and running her fingers along every surface in the house.

I don't do anything if it's my parents but if it's the in laws, I sweep and clean up the kitchen.

I'm sort of over trying to pretend to be tidier than I am in my own home... But I guess I'd make sure the toilets were clean. Otherwise, judge away.

They're my family, I have no problem with them seeing what my house looks like in its natural state. They'll love me just the same.

Shut all the doors up stairs, wipe the bathroom, wipe counters and table tops, make piles on the clutter tables, fix couch pillows and throw blankets, throw toys in the pen

If it's parents/in-laws, nothing. My parents def nothing. And I'm neater than my in-laws even at my worst lol!

Walk into every room and do a quick tidy or wipe down and take out the trash. We are pretty neat but the house only gets cleaned every 2 weeks and we are lazy about emptying wastebaskets.

If my ILs called to say they were coming over in 15 mins I'd lock the door and turn off all the lights Kidding! (sort of)
I put the toys away, wipe down any gunky surfaces, and wipe down the guest bathroom.
If I still have some time I'll load the dishwasher.
If there's unfolded laundry out, I leave it because she'll probably fold it for me

I do the quickest poof-poof under the rug clean. dishes in washer, things in baskets/hide them in the linen closet, quick tidy of the benches and if the floors are looking dusty a quick zoom with the dyson. and make sure the bathroom isn't too disgusting because someone always has to go to the loo!

I mostly maintain the house a much as possible with two toddlers! They're just going to get it all back out anyway, but dishes are always done and counters always wiped. I put away any stray wine glasses, and sweep the front porch/de clutter all the shoes that inevitably get taken off in front of the door!

Pick up toys, wipe down bathroom surfaces, and try to stuff as much into the dishwasher as possible. But really, if you're surprising me, you're going to see my messy ass house!
