When you potty trained your son, did you first teach him to sit or stand?
I completely forgot what we did with our oldest, maybe a combo of sitting and standing? We have do teach our youngest soon, but so far he's not interested. Just wondering if teaching him a certain way would be more successful.

@Boogs: We do sit. I tried stand and it was a hilarious disaster. He just couldn't figure it out!It was easier for him to lean forward, and we taught him to push his penis down to aim.

We did sit at first and then my husband taught him to stand before bath time. Eventually he started deciding to stand on his own. It's so much easier now!

He started by sitting backwards (keeps the pee in the toilet!). Now he mostly stands up. We started with him standing on a stool and leaning with hands on back of the toilet. Now he kinda points his hips, but doesn't understand directing his penis.

He sat until a little after 2 or 2.5? Love that he can just stand on a stool and go independently versus helping him sit on the seat..

Sit, definitely. The few times he tried standing, he peed on his shoes. He's 4 and still sits.

Charlie wouldn't sit so he learned to stand right away. He has more issues being messy when he has to sit!
