Just wondering, after dtd I always have the urge to go to the toilet. I try so hard to hold it in but can't. Maybe bc I've trained myself for so long to pee after sex to avoid uti. But now that I'm ttc does it make it less effective to fall pregnant? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb qst, am curious, my oh thinks I should try hold on and avoid drinking too much water during fertile window so I don't feel the urge to pee.
What are your thoughts. Does it matter?

I try not to sit up or stand for at least 15-20 minutes after BD. Once my self imposed horizontal time out is over I'll use the bathroom if I need to.

I would always lay down for at least 10-20 minutes after. I have no idea if it helps though. I am sure you can still get pregnant if you pee right away, so if you can't wait, you still have a shot.

I don't think it helps at all. I'm sure it doesn't hurt to lay there for a minute or two but if you gotta go, go.

I would keep drinking water b/c it helps with CM. I would lay down for 20 minutes and then go to the toilet - helps prevent UTIs.

I got pregnant the one time DH didn't pull out and I peed and showered and was actively trying to clean it all out after...clearly didn't effect anything for me!

If you're worried you could always put a Softcup in and then use the restroom.

I normally go to the bathroom after dtd. When we were TTC, I did not. I ended up pregnant with BV and the only thing I could do about it was drink lots of water to try to flush it out of my system (doc doesn't treat BV during first trimester). I should have peed! I would only hold it if you don't conceive after a few months.

I know this may sound gross but after 8 months ttc I was trying everything. We would dtd before bed and I just started going to sleep after! No bathroom. Got pregnant!

I really don't think it matters. Only takes one sperm.

Normally I get up to pee pretty quickly but during TTC I'd lay there for ~5 min and then go pee. It only took us 4 cycles to get pregnant so I don't think peeing hurt anything.

We've been pregnant three times and all three times I got pregnant I peed right after. The few months we ttc the third time and did not concieve right away (the first two pregnancies I got pregnant the first month), I would continue to lay down for 15-20 min and it didn't work. Once I said "forget it" and went back to peeing right after, we conceived again.

i've googled this and numerous sites said that laying down doesn't matter, neither does peeing. the sperm that gets you pregnant won't leak out if you pee or stand up.

I don't think it matters either! I'm sure many swimmers are already well on their way by the time you need to go, Gravity can't hurt them !

Thank you everyone for your replies. It's great to know. I ended up lying down for a good 15min before I couldn't hold it anymore lol. I am about 5 days away from ovulation so don't think last nights peeing would matter I think it'll be unlikely to get pregnant yet. Starting tomorrow will try hold it in until I ovulate but If I gotta go I'll go. Just glad to hear those got preg after peeing.
