@winniebee: There's always a battle!
And just because you'll appreciate this: I just got a text from my MIL saying that sometimes mothers have to eliminate certain from their diets when they have fussy babies, and wanting to know if I had considered that. Ugh - thanks!

Interesting study about how normal it is for babies to wake during the night.

@MrsF: whaaaat! Thanks lady. See I'm such a complainer the whole world knows I haven't had dairy lol!!! Butttt I've had some baked goods in the last 5 days and nothing has changed so in going to start adding more

@Adira: That is some good info! My pedi is very I guess "new school" when it comes to sleep so he says a lot babies are babies they don't sleep at night and if they do your lucky...lol
Soo I only kind of base her sleep off of what her patterns are, I know she is capable of a 7-8hr stretch so that is kinda my expectation for her!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: I have been more flexible with the naps since she goes from 1-3hrs between
But she will nap on the go...

@Adira: THIS > "Our findings show that it is normal for babies to wake and instead those supporting the mother should find other ways of helping her rather than trying to affect how she feeds her baby.”

@winniebee: I've done my fair share of complaining and she definitely heard that I was dairy & soy free. I will admit that I don't share much with her because I don't want to hear her ideas / judgements. Seriously though...
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@josina: Totally agree! Hate all the "Start them on solids or give them formula or force them to cluster feed" stuff to try to get them to sleep longer. Babies just wake up in the middle of the night! It's normal! (Though it sucks)

@josina: @Adira: Yep!!!!
DH and I are FINALLY having a baby free afternoon!
My sister is coming over to hang with G for a few hours! I am stoked Love my munchkin but.....also it's healthy for her and my sister wants some bonding time!
Leaving a bottke to try as well....not going to push it, but offer just to see what she does!

@Adira: My MIL.keeps saying mix fruit with her cereal she will eat more!
She is eating just fine for a 5 month old....she also always says then you don't have to nurse her as often!?!
She never breast fed....I said yes you do it doesn't take the place of milk yet!
Gahhhh.....lol

Why I love this board because I feel both mom and MIL are clueless these days....lol
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: haha, it's crazy the advice we get! I had a daycare teacher once tell me that breast milk wasn't very substantial and that's why breastfed babies were hungry all the time!

@faithfertility: hope you guys have a great afternoon!
we had a good night. i decided that in the absence of known factors (sickness, teething), i'm not going to go to E if she wakes up before midnight-ish. last night, she started fussing at 930p, fussed for about 10 minutes, then fell back asleep on her own until 315a. it was glorious. chugged some milk then back to sleep til 7a. probably a fluke, but i'm hoping for some consistency eventually!

Speaking of "good" advice we went to dinner with my inlaws this past weekend for a belated Mother's Day, and for the first time K got upset when anyone else held her, although she was fine and happy when we left her alone in a car seat. Anyways everyone went on about how we baby her too much and that we need to teach her to be better with strangers.... Except she IS a baby, so it makes sense that we'd baby her!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@KayKay: Hope it's not a fluke!!
@Miss Ariel: Ugh, we got that too when Xander started going through his stranger anxiety phase. It was especially annoying because he was in daycare fulltime, so he had to deal with "strangers" all the time, so there was no way I was pressuring him into "getting used to" other people just to soothe their egos. Haven't dealt with this with Logan yet, but I'm sure we will soon!

I have a mental health day today. I just got home from a leisurely stroll through Sams to stock up on a few things. Now I'm going to get to getting some cleaning and organizing done. Tomorrow both DH and I will be home together. We are still sending the girls to school! I so needed this day home alone. It's a shame that I really want to get things accomplished because it's raining and I wouldn't mind being a lazy couch bum too!

@mamag: i used to love the days when i had off (or slow WFH days) and K would still go to daycare! that's definitely one thing i miss as a SAHM enjoy!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: happy mental health day to you!!!
@FaithFertility: that's great have an awesome day!
@KayKay: I'm trying not to go to Ryan before midnight either. Last night no peeps from 715-215. He seems to be figuring out his crib!
For those in the crappy nap situation.....I just dug up a thread I made for my first kid. Apparently he started outgrowing the cat nap right around 5.5 months. I really hope that happens with Ryan. Any day now!!!!! He literally will not sleep more ham 20-30 mins regardless of how long he is awake.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Miss Ariel: those comments as well as "spoiling" comments are so annoying!!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@FaithFertility: yay for some time away! Hope G does well!
What does she do when she refuses the bottle? Fuss/cry or just won't drink? E is on his new bottle strike apparently, last night when I tried he just chewed on the nipple for awhile. He had 1-1/2 bottles at daycare. Still isn't fussy or anything and nurses fine and a little more than usual but that may be more me making sure he's getting enough.

@FaithFertility: Nice! I hope you're enjoying your day
@KayKay: That sounds like an awesome night! I hope it's a sign of good things to come!
@Miss Ariel: Ugh - I hate those situations
honeydew / 7283 posts
@MamaG: Isn't it amazing how even annoying chores seem luxurious when you aren't dragging two kids along with you? I hope you get a little bit of lazy couch bum time too!
@winniebee: Glad you guys have had some good nights! I hope the naps are next. Sounds promising based on T's schedule!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: K is 2 weeks away from 6 mo so it hasn't happened for her yet! She's a 40 min on the dot napper haha. But if I'm home with her I can usually extend one of them.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: I totally agree! Thanks for the article! I feel like more and more I'm turning into "baby led" everything haha. I figure if she's not ready to STTN then she just isn't. As long as she is still well rested and happy, and I'm not at the brink of a breakdown without sleep, then we'll just march on forward!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@Miss Ariel: Ughhh that happens with us too! G sometimes is just not into being passed around amd the comments begin, sorry!
@MamaG: Nice! Enjoy!!!
@josina: Ohhh stinky! Yep she will gum and play with it then smack it away! She if left for hours will eventually get upset and cry!
@winniebee: He is doing great!
We had a good afternoon!!!! Went to the mall, lunch then food shopping.....lol
G was perfect for my sister went down for her nap and all! But of course refused the bottle. ..my sister said she smacked it away and if she tried again basically tried to get away!
Crazy because we left at 10:30 I fed her at like 10 came back at 2 and she didn't even act hungry!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: I'm kind of doing the same! I figure one she goes to the sitter she will put her on a schedule that works for her! So I'm going to enjoy my last months!!!!!!!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: I'm finding that K can go 4 hrs between feedings.. She's been fussy with eating lately so I just wait till she's hungrier! Otherwise she fusses with the bottle or nurse while distracted anyway!

@MrsF: Yah chores. I hate them, but our house needed them. So far I've reorganized all of the clothes in both girls rooms, washed their bedding, vacuumed (how do I keep skipping this?), organized our bathroom and accumulated a bunch of diaper and shipping boxes.
I've also assembled a box of hand me downs and diapers for a friend that is due next month. Next up, organizing all of C's toys. I gathered up all of the books from around the house and got them all sorted on the shelves. Now it's toys!
Oh, and I'm washing the fabric parts of the swing and RnP. As soon as they are dry, they will be re-assembled, photographed and listed on craigslist and FB BST. Time to rid our house of large baby gear we don't need anymore.
I really want to get a pedicure and go shopping but I'll save those for tomorrow.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: yeah I am sure the cereal helps a little too
What did K try today????
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: wow you're getting so much done! And it's all the lil things we normally don't have time for! You def deserve some relaxation after all this!
@FaithFertility: She will have more carrots lol since it's still what we have
pomelo / 5298 posts
Ladies, you have no idea how good it feels to get this stuff done! I feel like we've neglected our house for about six months. We've been doing the main stuff but shuffling a lot of things from one spot to another instead of actually taking care of them. This is good for my mojo. And of course, we have guests this weekend, so I'm a little motivated too.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: That's amazing! You've been so proddutive! I chip away at tiny stuff while T is at school. But it's only really 12 hours a week and I've got Ryan the cat napper occupying my days. I just want ONE day with a babysitter here so i can do chores
pear / 1961 posts
@mamag: hard core! i've been trying to do little bits of packing and/or sorting & tossing to prep for our move in 2 months, but i would love a full day to just get s**t done.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: I knooow! The short naps makes me completely unproductive! Although it's better now that she can sit in her chair and I make cleaning a big dance and song to entertain her lol
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: K takes late naps sometimes too.. And then she would fall asleep nursing but wake back up and end up sleeping at like 10 these days! But I rather that than waking up MOTN!
