@littlek: @snowjewelz: I thought swimming would be a bit tame and no really do much, fitness wise, but I was shocked at how out of shape I am and how hard it was! I could really feel it in my arms and legs. I definitely recommend!

@Mrs.Lilac: it is! I swim every Tuesday and Thursday with my son. He hangs on my neck while I do breast stroke, it's exhausting!!

@Mrs.Lilac: Nice! I keep meaning to go swimming and then just don't get around to it. Hopefully I can get my butt in gear this weekend.

@winniebee: congrats on a baby brother!!! Do you have any names yet? I have a strong feeling that we are having another boy so I have been brainstorming names with my husband but so far he vetoed everything. It's so hard because I have so many more girl names and we agree on more of those.
@Adira: you are so lucky you have a name you like! Logan is super cute.

@MrsMccarthy: We like Logan, but we're still not 100%!! Not like we were with Xander! Though I'm betting it'll end up being Logan because we won't be able to come up with anything better!

So, the other things from my ultrasound. Positive - cervix looks nice and long so far so not presently at risk for preterm labor. Negatives - I currently have placenta previa (placenta too close to cervix). That may change as my uterus grows and there's a good chance it will. If not, I'm looking at a c section this time. Which I know is not big deal but sort of sucks since I had an easy vaginal delivery with my son.
Second negative - the baby has a small calcification (more scientifically, an echoic focus) on his heart. Taken alone it means nothing. However, it can be a soft downs marker if found with other downs markers or a sign of a heart defect. There were no other downs markers found at this ultrasound (which was a level 2 at a perinatologist). And we did first tri blood work and had the NT scan and both were normal. However, I'm having second labs done today to complete the Series Sequential Testing and that along with the other screening will provide us with a downs risk assessment, which is over 99% accurate. (Side note, I'm really pissed off at the OB here - I allegedly did this very blood draw at 15 weeks, but the OB ordered the wrong tests so I had to redo them today. Otherwise, we would already know our risk and be able to (hopefully) eliminate this as a concern, but I digress).
Regarding a heart defect, because neither my husband nor me have a history of heart issues it's likely not a heart defect. The specialist said he got a good look at the heart so feels there's a very low risk for an abnormality. But it's still something to think about and that will be monitored.
We will follow with another ultrasound in a month or so at my new OB in Maine. The specialist today I saw did not seem overly concerned about any of this so I am trying not to worry, but it is hard. He said he got a great look at this kiddo and that he seemed very healthy. It just kind of puts a damper on things. But I guess that's the whole point of having ultrasounds like this, right?
honeydew / 7295 posts
@winniebee: I'm so sorry you are going through this anxiety! I will hope and pray (and I have a good feeling) that all will be well. The one down side to these sorts of ultrasounds is that they can sometimes worry someone when things are just fine.

@winniebee: big hugs! I know what you mean about getting any news at the anatomy scan other than we didn't find any potential issues at all. Hopefully it is nothing at all...but how frustrating that you could already know now if the OB hadn't messed up the blood work orders. Most everyone I've talked to said the issues resolved by the third trimester who had to do repeat scans. But it's still hard not to worry and think worst case scenario. Good thing we have our toddlers to keep is distracted
And hopefully your placenta previa resolves itself. I had an unplanned csection and my recovery was so incredibly easy that I'm leaning towards a repeat csection. I was able to move and get up the next morning and the only pain medication I took was Tylenol with codeine. I've has outpatient procedures more painful than my csection. I didn't have any staples or issues with my incision either. Hopefully it's a nonissue for you but i have nothing but good thoughts when I look back at my csection experience

@winniebee: hugs! I hope you get your results soon and rule out any problems. That's great news about the cervix.

@winniebee: Prayers that all will be just fine!!!! Yes, I agree these things can put a damper on it, but just like you said it is an "anatomy" scan not just a fun gender scan....
But I am sure all will be just perfect!

@magnolia: sorry for the worry from the scan. It is so common for scans to bring up issues that actually turn out fine. Hoping you get answers very soon. X

Is it Monday yet.........lol
I'm dying....lol
Anatomy scan on Monday:)
Even though the gender will still be hidden to us until Thursday at a family Pink or Blue BBq....due to DH work schedule and family work schedule , I'm dying to see this babe again!!!

@winniebee: I'm so sorry that the ultrasound results sound a little scary! That must be so stressful for you guys, although it sounds like things are still relatively low-risk. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you get more definitive answers soon, and that the previa corrects itself. Hugs!
@magnolia: Awww that is too sweet!! Love it.
@FaithFertility: Ahh! So soon I'm impressed that you're holding out a few extra days afterwards; we couldn't even wait an extra half hour to get to dinner. HA.

You guys. I really wanted to wear white pants today and, since I haven't bought white maternity pants/jeans, I thought it would be a good idea to just wear my regular white jeans with an elastic band.
WORST IDEA IN THE HISTORY OF IDEAS. Oh my God. I'm so uncomfortable. It's pressing up against my abdomen and it makes me want to puke. So so so horrible. Whyyyyy.
Also, I'm still (STILL) throwing up in the mornings. I spoke to the midwife about it at my last appt, and she was basically like, yeah, you'll be getting sick the entire pregnancy. Tough ish.
Awesome.
So I'm just a bundle of happiness today How's everyone doing?? I can't believe we're halfway there!!

@FaithFertility: It will definitely be worth it It will be so fun to be around your family, and have someone able to film your reactions!!

@theotherstark: Ahh I am sorry to hear! But at the same time it's funny to read your description lol. Is it possible for you to change midday? Run to a store and buy something else? That is the reason I never got the belly band and just gave up wearing pants/shorts... I just feel like it wouldn't be comfortable! And I am so sorry you're still sock My friend was sick her entire pregnancy too. Like you said, at least you're half way!
@winniebee: I am sorry this is so stressful! I pray that everything will be okay in the end! My sister had a heart murmur thing going on when she was born too, but it completely went away by itself and she never had any complications from it!

@littlek: yes! Gender / anatomy scan tomorrow!!! So so excited! I am also having a birthday BBQ on Sunday so I'm going to decorate in either blue or pink and make it a mini gender reveal. Hubby thinks I am crazy since it isn't really heard of over here in England! I think it will be fun
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@snowjewelz: Ha, it is pretty funny. And pretty uncomfortable. Sigh.
@Mrs.Lilac: So soon!!! And that's such a cute idea for reveal Yay! I can't wait to hear what you're having.

I found out I lost my baby girl on Friday and had surgery on Monday. Could you please remove the gender, due date and my name from the Dec 2014 list?
Thank you.
