@Mrs. Lion: Congrats on your girl!

@Circusbee: Nursery progress has been at a standstill for the past month, but I just ordered curtains and a rug and we'll probably paint next weekend. I'm excited to see it start coming together.

@Circusbee: I finally started clearing out the room that will be the nursery this weekend. It felt so good to get that done! There's a tiny bit more to do, but my husband should be able to skim coat the walls in two weeks, then we can paint!

We are using my sons nursery for this baby, but I need to add some magenta accents. I'm excited to start looking! Other than that I just need some prints for the walls and to start stocking up on girl clothes! I need to go through and sell all my baby boy stuff. I'm putting it off though. I get way too excited when I see all the tiny things and we still have so long left to go!

@Circusbee: we ordered a crib last week and that's it. I'm teying to decide on colours. I was thinking navy and coral but I'm worried that the navy will be too dark. So then I was thinking maybe mint and coral or something. I don't knowwww so many decisions and I'm way too indecisive!

@Circusbee we have a crib but my DH won't let me take apart the office to prepare the nursery until the last minute. It's drivig me a bit bonkers but if I'm working from home at the end, I'm sure I'll appreciate it.

After trying on all of the maternity coats from Motherhood, PitP, and ASOS, I went ahead and invested in an M coat today. I've been stalking eBay but they are so scarce and in northern New England, I think it's only a matter of weeks before I need it. What are you all doing for warm coats?

Our nursery is painted, and we've picked out the flooring, but we're having a hard time finding an installer that will return our calls! It's so frustrating! Hopefully we'll get an install date booked sometime this week. Then it's on to choosing a rug, a glider, and fabric for curtains & bedding (my mom has volunteered to sew them for us!). I'm starting to get really excited about getting the nursery set up and to start putting gear where it will go, once we start getting gear!

  11. Mrs. Detour

@Circusbee: My shower is the first weekend in December. I'm super excited about seeing all of my cousins in one place so it really can't come fast enough.

@Mrs. Detour: I was planning on having one of mine in early December, but now one of the hosts wants to wait until January. It's stressing me out a lot that they want to wait that long, but I feel like I shouldn't complain since they are doing something so nice for me.

i WANT mine in January- the holidays are too hectic and I feel no one would come (selfishly) Mine is expected the first or second weekend in Jan.

@Circusbee: I think I'm having a sprinkle in early January.

  15. Mrs. Detour

    apricot / 251 posts

We have a lot of family that visits for the entire thanksgiving to Christmas period so that made it easy for us to choose. That said, it likely means my friends won't be able to come since traveling at that time of year is such a hassle.

  16. HeartAbandoned

    clementine / 933 posts

I'm having one on January 10th (I'll be 36 weeks), and maybe 2 more that are TBD (this is our first baby, and DH is a youth pastor, so we have gotten several generous offers!). The holidays definitely make it more difficult to schedule showers!

  17. Mrs. Rabbit

No nursery over here for us, and no sprinkle. Now I'm feeling sad about this baby!

I'm sure we'll do something for a nursery, but I just don't have any ideas. Maybe my husband will help me figure out something when he gets home.

As for a sprinkle...no family near us and since I'm home now, and leaving in like four days and not coming back until next year, there's no time for a shower/sprinkle. And we don't know enough people in the town we live in.

    Drats. Now I'm sad!

  18. mrs. tictactoe

    blogger / pomegranate / 3201 posts

@Mrs. Rabbit: Don't be sad!! Many people don't have sprinkles. I'm sure your friends and family will get you lots of wonderful gifts. And the nursery is for us moms anyway. You'll create a wonderful environment for your baby however you do it!

I've been really bad at checking in here but do read when I get the time and love hearing everyone's news. We recently found out that baby A is and baby B is ! So excited!

@Mrs. Detour: It only just started getting chilly this week, but when I tried on my coats, most of them don't fit or will stop fitting soon. I really need to start looking!!

@Mrs. Rabbit: I feel ya. I'm a little bummed that I won't be having a shower. All my family is really spread out and far away, and I'm fairly new here so I don't really have any friends yet. It would be so nice to see everyone all in one place.

@abdubbs: One of each, how exciting!

  21. MrsTal

Major stuff for our nursery is done, we painted, put up decals, have a crib and changing table, glider is ordered, prints are ordered. We just need a few more things, table for next to the glider, some shelving, lighting, and frames.

As far as showers go, mine are in the beginning of November. I didn't want them over the holidays and we get really bad winters and I have to travel for one so I didn't want it in January. Voila, November it was lol.

@abdubbs: One of each, how wonderful!!

We're making good progress on the nursery, slow and steady. We've got the crib assembled, gilder in, and decals on the wall (no painting). The dresser is on it's way! Then swapping our guest Queen size bed for a daybed. And need to do bedding and pillows for that. I think we'll be set by the holidays.

As for showers, the grandmas/girlfriends were insistent on doing them before the holidays and lots of snow. So MIL is throwing a local one the weekend before Thanksgiving and BFF throwing one in my hometown in early Dec. They are super generous and I am so excited!!

@Circusbee: I would be a little stressed waiting until January too! Are the hosts flexible at all? I know it's a lovely thing they're doing, but do you feel like you get a say??

Looks like I'll be monitored by a specialist a bit. They still aren't sure what caused my bleeding and the anatomy scan showed a pool of blood about 3cm long, so it's a little troubling. The fact that I haven't bled at all since that first time is good, but they need to monitor it's size to make sure it doesn't get any bigger. I feel her moving all the time, though, so I know she's ok for now!

  27. Circusbee

@loopedd: I got one of them to change it to early December but the other will still probably be in January. Oh well, it's better than nothing! I think I'll probably finish getting everything ready that we will need immediately by the time the holidays are over, and just leave stuff on the registry for January that we won't need right away. I think that should make me relax a bit!

  28. loopedd

@Circusbee: That sounds do-able. I am the worst about letting other people plan things without sticking my nose in

@mrs. tictactoe: Glad you're getting the extra monitoring, and glad you can feel her kicking around in there!

I fiiiiinally felt some little bubbly movements, like pops, this week. And I actually look pregnant today, suddenly, at 21 weeks. Maybe I'll get those subway seats now!

@loopedd: So exciting!! It's just been in the past few days for me, but all of a sudden my little bean is SOOO active and strong! I feel him moving around and flipping and kicking all day long! I love it

@Mrs. Rabbit: Don't feel sad! We're not having any sort of sprinkle. Our friend group doesn't do it, and our nearby-ish family follows Jewish traditions of not gifting before the baby arrives. I actually don't know anyone in my real life that had a sprinkle, and honestly, it sounds too stressful at this point! We're so busy that I don't think I want the added stress of being "front and center" for another party like that!

I am at such a loss for nursery inspiration! If nothing else, I need to come up with some sort of plan for her room because we need new sheets. I was thinking purple + gold (link to my Pinterest board), but will it be too much purple?

Don't know why this is so tough this time around!

  32. Mrs. Lion

    blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts

@marzipan: I love the purple and gold! I think if you keep the walls neutral the accents will really pop and not be too much

@Mrs. Lion: @loopedd: Thank you! That's so reassuring. And I love the point about leaving the walls neutral, because we are way too lazy to paint, but now I have a good reason for not painting, ha!

    Thanks again, ladies!

@loopedd: Totally! We live in faculty rental housing (my husband teaches at a liberal arts college), so I am EXTRA disinclined to paint -- I'd have to paint it back to white someday in the foreseeable future! No way!
