I hate putting away all the plastic cups and plates and lids and bowls. They don't dry in the dishwasher so they end up piling up in the drying rack after I empty the dishwasher, and they never just stack nicely the way our regular dishes and glasses do. It doesn't take that long except I keep putting it off and they build up.
What small but annoying task do you hate the most?

I freaking hate cleaning the cat litter box. It's vile. I told my husband it was super toxic to pregnant women so I at least got out of it for 9 months.

@Foodnerd81: This is silly but I hate cleaning my son's foam play mat. We have four dogs so I have to clean it at least twice a day and for some reason it annoys the crap out of me that it's never clean for more than a couple hours!!

@JennyD: yesssssssss!!!!!!! I try to put as much as possible in the dishwasher but every night it's bottles, straw cups, lunch containers etc and I get irrationally pissed off every night about doing it!

Carrying stuff upstairs that belongs upstairs but ended up downstairs and the reverse. I don't know how so much crap (hair ties! Kids' clothes! Screwdrivers! grill tools!) migrates, but it does.

@wrkbrk: ugh pet fur. This is why I started using all the baby quilts we have floating around for play mats. Easy to toss in the wash. Chores that don't stay done for more than a hot second are the wooooorst.

So I totally don't mind folding and putting away laundry (but it's just the 3 of us right now); I don't mind dishes of any kind; and I don't mind cleaning up clutter, BUT I really hate cleaning the bathroom (toilets and shower specifically) and I really hate dusting

@wrkbrk: I gave up on those. Granted we don't have pets right now, but one corner of the mat is near the high chair and I got so sick of scrubbing thrown food out of the grooves and between the puzzle connector bits. That corner is just nasty.
@hilsy85: I don't pump that often but washing the parts always irritates me. It's like, I made the milk, I pumped the milk, I bottle fed the milk or made the bottle for someone else to feed the milk, and now I have to wash these freaking parts too?? Lucky they are plastic so I can angrily slam them around while I wash them.
@sandy: haaaaattteee washing baths and showers. But the toilet is kind of satisfying- I feel like it's a big pay off for less work, vs the whole shower that I never feel is totally clean when I'm done anyway.
@MrsSRS: with my first I never wanted to use the lovely hand made quilts in case they got dirty. With my second I realized I would rather they be used and they can easily be washed anyway.

@Canoli: I just hate all dishes. The ones that go. In the dishwasher and the ones that don't. It's never ending. And even if you had enough of everything to go a whole week, the pile would be enormous and insurmountable. Also, it is the number one most fought about chore in our house.

@JennyD: exactly. And I got up and down 80 times during my meal and I bathed and put the kids down prior to cleaning up too. By the time I get to the kitchen I'm like "haven't I done enough?"

@Foodnerd81: yes, yes, YES to this! Emptying the dishwasher is my least favourite chore, hands down. DH was away for a week at the beginning of August and emptying the dishwasher just about killed me!

Oh my gosh too many. It is an exact tie between putting away laundry and scraping the floor under the highchair 3+ times a day.
ETA: maybe putting away laundry wins as the worst because at least the food on the floor won't happen forever and ever. Laundry will.

Scrubbing the floors, ugh. The tile in our dining area has had this weird sticky greasy substance on it since the day we moved in. I've tried every imaginable cleaning method, from natural homemade cleaners to the chemicaliest of chemicals and in the 6 months we've lived here nothing has worked. And the tile in the kitchen is white (ugh) with little grooves that dirt gets into and sticks and it always looks disgusting even though I use the spray mop every day. Short of scrubbing the damn grooves with a toothbrush on my hands and knees I don't think it will ever get clean. Needless to say, the next big thing we are saving for is new flooring in the kitchen/dining area.

@Foodnerd81: This! Absolutely hate unloading the dishwasher and still having to fill the drying rack with plastic bowls and tupperware. It's like having to do it all twice...
I mostly don't mind cleaning but hate the things that get dirty immediately after. With 2 dogs and 2 cats the floor stays clean for exactly 3 seconds after vacuuming. Drives me nuts!

Emptying the dishwasher, for sure. It just feels like we do it every day. For whatever reason, I don't mind laundry nearly as much.
We gave up and hired a cleaner for the other stuff. It's been amazing.

I hate cleaning up toys. Hate hate hate hate hate. It's like they breed overnight. I actually don't mind cleaning the bathroom, but I do hate that my husband leaves his dirty clothes in there. I need to get him a hamper specifically for the bathroom to deposit his clothes in every night.

Putting things where they belong and folding clothes. By now, the toddler is old enough that the only places he can't reach are top shelves and kitchen cabinets, and he's got the baby to help him with the bottom shelves. The minute I pick something off the floor, they throw two more things down, and as for keeping clothes and beds neatly made, that's like waving a red rag before a bull! If only I had a room where they weren't allowed, or a yard where they can go nuts

@catlady: @Foodnerd81: yep, same: HATE emptying the dishwasher. if I don't do it, my husband will let dirty dishes pile up in the sink overnight, which I hate even more. I could fold laundry all day and not mind a bit. thinking now that I have a newborn it's time to bite the bullet and hire a cleaning lady twice a month to cut the workload of floors/dusting/bathroom/deep cleaning in half.

Putting away clean clothes for sure. Drives me crazy! However, I love actually doing the laundry and that happens to be hubby's least favourite chore so we swap.

Mopping the @%#$*& kitchen floor... We switched DD from a highchair to a booster and I now need to mop almost daily instead of once or twice a week. Also for some reason our toilets need to get scrubbed about every other day. I wonder if there is something up with the water- there shouldn't be a ring in there so often and it really grosses me out.
