If you add in baking soda to your vinegar/water, that helps for tougher messes.

I also use baking soda!
I like mixing essential oils into baking soda and sprinkling it over my carpets before vacuuming. It makes my house smell wonderful!
For my stovetop, I sprinkle baking soda all over then put a warm wet towel over it for a few minutes then wipe/scrub.

I use vinegar/water, baking soda, Mrs. Meyers, and Method products. Between those, it keeps us pretty well covered
