So has anyone started a baby registry or wish list yet? I have a wish list on Amazon I've been using to keep track of stuff, but have been reluctant to delve into the world of registries (and I DON'T want my name showing up on a Google search for any registries!)

@Ms.Mermaid: yes, on amazon! And it's not searchable on google...we selected the option that you can only view it with the link I have, which I like!! My shower is on the early side (20 weeks) because of scheduling and it's out of town, and with the placenta previa I figure now is better than later in case of travel restrictions later on. I recommend Lucie's List to help you start-awesome information and practical tips. Much less overwhelming than our Buy Buy Baby trip where DH's and my heads were spinning!

So what are you guys doing for exercise? I did my triathlon over the weekend, which was the last endurance activity I had on my schedule, and now I'm looking for other workouts. I just checked out the You: Having a Baby Workout DVD from the library and it's pretty good - it's mostly light weights and some stretching, but it's definitely a solid workout. My gym's pool is finally open, so I'm planning on swimming a lot (I bought a racerback swimsuit two sizes up from my pre-pregnancy size), but they aren't offering water aerobics this year so if I want to do those, I have to go all the way across town. My friend and I still lift weights a couple days a week, but I'm having trouble figuring out what exercises are safe/best. My doctor just said to make sure I'm not lifting too much. Has anyone found any good books/magazines/DVDs?

@Ms.Mermaid: I haven't gotten the all clear to start working out after all of the bleeding, but I am going to start going to a prenatal yoga class next week. I haven't had any bleeding for a month so I think I'll be fine if I take it easy. I want to start incorporating more walking and light weight lifting but again I have to be careful. Amazing that you did a triathlon though!

@Ms.Mermaid: I am on pelvic rest because of Placenta Previa. As a runner for the last 12 years, it's rough. I "speed walk," but it just isn't the same! I should find out on June 9th (our anatomy scan) whether or not the situation has begun to resolve itself. If it has, back to running (albeit slowly and with walk breaks as second trimester continues), and also to using the high school pool across the street for some non-weight bearing cardio. Even if the PP hasn't resolved, I'm hopeful I'll get the green light for swimming. It isn't my favorite activity but I know it's SO good for you, and definitely a prime choice for preggos.

@Ms.Mermaid: Just yoga, walking, and pilates. The most endurance I've ever done was walk/jog a half marathon, so I'm super impressed that you did a triathlon at all, let alone while pregnant!

@Ms.Mermaid: I have a couple of "sort of" registries at a few stores, mostly for the completion discounts I'll get at the end my amazon one is more of a wish list but I do really want everything that's on it! I don't remember if it was on here that mentioned lucieslist.com or another thread, but it looks like a great reference to weed out all the BS that stores say you need, but probably don't. Plus it's kind of funny.

I was visiting family this weekend. My cousin just asked me to be her son's godmother! It's especially exciting because we were TTC at the same time last year, but she got pregnant right away and I didn't, so it was a little bittersweet staying in touch for a while. Now I'm pregnant exactly a year behind her. It's been awesome watching them now and thinking that's what my life will be this time next year!

Do you guys have fun Memorial Day plans?

@thisisme: I have officially let my bump into maternity clothes in honor of memorial day weekend- it's so nice to not suck it in anymore! Tomorrow we are just hanging with family and eating lots of food.

Has anyone found good maternity shorts? Not too long or too short. I have plenty of jeans/pants/skirts but I think I can justify a few dresses and pairs of shorts!

@tororojo: I made the transition to maternity clothes this weekend, too. I had no idea how comfortable they would be until I tried some on just for fun! I walked out of the store with several complete outfits. I haven't had any luck finding shorts, though, either!

@tororojo: @thisisme: I really like Motherhood Maternity's shorts. Not too long and not too short and super comfy. Old Navy is having a sale this weekend, too. I haven't tried any of theirs, though!

@Mrs.Panda: good to know! My jeans are all from Motherhood but I haven't checked them out for summer clothes. Saw some very cute dresses at Old Navy the other day and I'll have to try some stuff on when I'm not dragging a toddler with me!

My sister gave me a pair of shorts - I'm not sure who they are by - but I love them. I'll check. I think Ann Taylor Loft had a bunch.

Hey everyone-checking in at 16 weeks. My 16 week appointment is a week from today, and then my anatomy scan is a week later. Had some ups and downs.....friends of ours lost their daughter 38-weeks into the pregnancy . It was awful. An important reminder that a healthy baby is truly a gift!

I'm doing some maternity clothes shopping, as I am able to squeeze into all my pre-preggo stuff, but it's starting to get uncomfortable. Sweet, sweet hubby is taking me on an early 30th birthday/babymoon/4th wedding anniversary trip to Oahu next week, so I need to find some cute maternity shorts. Thanks for the tip about Loft, @Ms.Mermaid: !@Mrs.Panda: Have you had your anatomy scan yet? Is everything going well?

Hope everyone is feeling great. I'm having a return of m/s for some reason, and it really isn't fun as it seems like most people are beyond it at this point! Oh well, a small price to pay:-). I am excited to feel movement soon, but also a little bit nervous about it as I'm guessing sleep with baby movements might be tough.

@ChiCalGoBee: Geez Louise! That is so sad Do the Drs have any idea what happened? Hurts my heart!!

Loft has cute maternity things, and I've had luck at Old Navy too. I haven't had to get in maternity clothes yet - but I know it is just right around the corner! I am 16w4d. We have our anatomy scan 1 week from tomorrow! We go to our regular OB at 1:30 and then straight from there to the specialist at 2:30 who does the anatomy scan.

On a good note - my counsyl test came back perfect. So my hubby doesn't have to get tested! My results got lost via FedEx the 1st time, so I had to redo the test a few weeks ago @ my appt.

Hope everyone is doing well. I can't wait to hear what everyone is having! Anyone have major feelings yet? I have an overwhelming feeling of girl. I'm basically convinced? I have no preference whatsoever though. I will be thrilled no matter what. Happy & healthy baby is all i care about!

@Chicalgobee I was talking to a friend on Saturday and I asked how her brother's wife was doing with her pregnancy and she told me that she lost the baby at 7 mos. I didn't ask what happened because I was just kinda freaked out, but I'll ask at some point.

I got asked on Sunday if I was sure it wasn't twins :-p. I also have a second job interview that I'm supposed to get a call about soon and do not know what I'm going to do! Obviously, don't discuss the pregnancy until you get an offer, but if I show up ridiculously pregnant, they are going to notice.

Is anyone else just kind of tired of being pregnant? Lately, especially since I started showing and feel uncomfortable in all of my clothes and everything, I kind of just feel annoyed that I can't do all the things I used to do and that none of my clothes fit. Isn't the second trimester supposed to be the fun part? I'm hoping it's just a stage and once the baby starts kicking this whole thing will feel more real and more like we're having a baby and I'll be able to be less self absorbed about the whole thing.

Also, is anyone else a vegetarian? Are you getting enough protein?

    Howdy, gals! Just checking in...

I had my 16 week appointment at the beginning of the week and all looks well. I've been in maternity clothes for a while now because I started showing so much earlier this go around. I hit the sales at A Pea in the Pod yesterday for a couple of new pieces to add to my wardrobe from last pregnancy. Most of my things are really cheap/simple, so it was fun to choose a few stylish splurges! Anything from the sale section is buy one get one free, if anyone's interested.

I've had terrible sciatica since about week 11, but at least my nausea seems to have abated! I got a prescription for physical therapy, so hopefully that will help.

Is anyone else planning a babymoon? DH and I are in the planning stages of one for August. I've never left DD with her grandparents overnight, so 3 nights/4 days feels like an eternity! We're thinking of going to Mackinac Island.

@ChiCalGoBee: Have fun in Oahu! And happy early birthday!
@Ms.Mermaid: I do hate some of the pregnancy restrictions. My family has a big reunion/vacation next month and I can't do 2/3 of the activities (water skiing, river tubing, water parks). I hope though that the 2nd tri treats us well enough to make it easier!

    kiwi / 745 posts

@Rattles Wait, is River Tubing a no-no? I have a gift card to use this summer! We are heading to California to visit friends in August but it isn't really a babymoon. We might also go to Toronto over labor day weekend. Mackinac Island sounds awesome though - I hope you have fun!

@Ms.Mermaid: I don't know about everywhere, but the place where we're renting tubes and coolers said no pregnant women or children under 5 when my family booked it. I had been debating anyway (though leaning towards going because I've been in that spot before and it's totally calm), but that made that decision. My mom said she'd looked at three companies and 2 had specifically mentioned no tots/pregnant women. I know that white water rafting is a no everywhere.

@rattles: we are going on a babymoon in June to Jamaica so ready for a vacation! I've had awful sciatic pain, my right buttock/back feel stabby and my right leg is painful and is tingly from the knee down. Crazy!

@Ms.Mermaid: I think it has something to do with if you flip you may not be able to get out of the tube or maneuver yourself as well as a preggo. Kind of a bummer Hope you hear from the job soon!

I had my anatomy scan yesterday and unfortunately couldn't get a good profile pic. But she was moving around and trying to suck her thumb, just not quite coordinated enough all the time haha. It was very cute but unfortunately I won't get the results until the 19th because my doctor is on vacation! But 10 fingers and 10 toes! Found out the pains I felt were likely round ligament pain so I haven't felt her squirm yet I'm really eager to feel her!

I am pretty good! We had a peek at the twins yesterday, and all looks good so far. Anatomy scan is scheduled for early July - I am anxious to find out the genders!!! We are starting to coordinate buying "stuff." As of this moment, the twins have nowhere to sleep lol

Hey everyone, glad to see things are progressing for you all! I finally, FINALLY, had my first doctors appointment and everything is looking great. I've lost 12 pounds so far, but apparently it's all good because the baby is still growing well.

I have my next appointment on June 25th, and a 3d ultrasound scheduled for next Tuesday, the 10th! My anatomy scan isn't booked yet, but will be sometime at the end of the month. I'm hoping we can find out the gender on Tuesday as a surprise for our Dad's for Father's Day!

Is it getting more real for everyone else? I'm getting bigger, and remembering all the aches and pains from last time that I'd conveniently forgotten. Isn't pregnancy amnesia great?

  27. thisisme

    apricot / 305 posts

I'm definitely in maternity clothes now... they're just sooo comfortable, I don't have any desire to try to wear anything else even though I probably could. Our anatomy scan is scheduled for June 27!

Has anyone felt movement yet? I never realized how far along in the pregnancy you can go without feeling any! I'm so anxious to start feeling something!

Am I the only one who is totally not excited to get like, kicked in the ribs and punched in the bladder? I'm trying to enjoy the last few weeks of my body still feeling a little bit like mine - despite not being able to go up steps or hills or very fast on my bike. Not to be the grouchy pregnant lady on the board.....

I heard back from the job and they are having me come in for another interview on Monday, so hopefully I can squeeze into my remaining suit and be okay. @ThisIsMe I'm wearing only maternity pants, and then some pre-pregnancy dresses that are jersey knit or forgiving. I wound up just going up a size in shirts, because the maternity shirt options aren't great and my sister said I should get as much stuff as I could around 20 weeks because it would be where I spent the most time on the way back down.

Anatomy scan next Thursday! We are staying Team Green but I'm excited to make sure there is an appropriate number of limbs and organs and such!

@thisisme: I haven't felt anything yet, but I feel like it's taking foreverrrr.

@ms.mermaid: I'm not looking forward to the end, where all the baby does is knee you in the spine and turn your stomach into rolling hills, but I am excited for the hiccups and the first little whomp whomp whomps.

@Ms.Mermaid: I've been on vacation so am just now catching up...but wanted to say I totally feel you about baby movements! Although I'm a little excited BC it's never happened before, I'm also terrified and not totally jazzed. I'm a *horrible* sleeper, and can only imagine how much this will impact sleep!! Good luck with the interview!!@thisisme: on movement...my doc said for first-timers it can take a while, esp. depending on where your placenta is. @ShayNanigans: I know what you mean about the "stuff"....I told my husband today I feel sooooo unprepared! School ends Friday (I forget...any other teacher bees in our group??) and I feel like once I get into summer mode I'll really go whole hog on nesting.

Anatomy scan is a week from Tuesday. FX all is healthy in there!! Heartbeat was a steady 166 at my 17 week apt.

  32. ChiCalGoBee

    nectarine / 2028 posts

@Mrs.Panda: BTW-I'm totally having round ligament pain!! My doc said as long as pain in pregnancy doesn't also include: bleeding, a high fever, or vomiting, it is just part of the process. I did tell hubby that "round ligament pain" makes it sound so innocuous,though-it hurts!!!

Also-for anyone else who had ALL DAY HEARTBURN-my doc prescribed a once daily Prevacid equivalent. It's totally harmless to baby, and I kid you not-from day one of taking it I've had zero heartburn. Magical! I cannot recommend it enough!!

@ChiCalGoBee: Yes, fifth grade teacher here, for five more days! I'm resigning after this year to stay home with baby next year. I'm still going to do summer school and I'll be on the sub list for my school for September and October. I'm so thankful we have the flexibility to make that choice. I think I'll miss teaching at the beginning of the year, but hopefully I'll have no regrets once baby arrives!

@rattles: We are planning a babymoon! We're having a tough time planning it too. We want to go to the West coast...we are thinking Coronado (outside San Diego). I really want a place to just lay back and relax. If I could go to Mexico and never leave the resort, I would! But I'm too afraid to leave the country. Where are you headed?? We are going in august too!

Is anyone else huge?? As I'm reading, I'm getting nervous because you all say you're not in maternity clothes yet!!!!

I am! I've been in them for two weeks or so now, and I'm only 17 wks preggo! I am out of the "fat" stage, and I definitely look pregnant. I'm not a large person, so I definitely have a pregnant belly. This is my first kid! Anyone else in maternity clothes now??

This pic attached was taken a week ago. Does anyone else look like me?

@mrs. bd: right here! I've been in maternity clothes for a while, but my wardrobe mainly consists of lululemon leggings and long tanks anyways. This is my second and I feel HUGE. I'm only 16 weeks by the way, so don't feel bad about your belly! I was your same size the first time around.

@Sophs Mama: Thank you so much! This does make me feel better. Your pic is so cute and fancy!!! You look adorable. A part of me is happy that I'm big because then I no longer just look fat. The rest of me is terrified for what the next 5 months will bring!!!
