@LAZB: What a beautiful, touching announcement. Bet your facebook's blowing up right now!
@Kes18: Hello baby! So reassuring to get a great scan. And that's a great deal for the NIPT, it would have been 7x that for us!

@delight: I love that somehow the few of us with so much sadness and heartache ended up on the same due date board. It makes it easier to talk about. I know for me the anatomy scan will be really really difficult - I may need to be sedated.

I believe it is so good to let it all out rather than holding it in. I know it makes people so uncomfortable to talk about but it is very healing for me to talk about everything. And I hate ignoring what happened or pretending it never happened. I did not see a therapist but when we first found out that there was a very good chance that Ava would not survive we were sent to many specialists and there was always a lot of talk not only about the medical issues but counseling us to be prepare for her to die shortly after birth. And the hospital/NICU had a grief counselor that talked extensively with us during our hospital stay (I stayed 4 days) and she followed us for a year checking in with phone calls and letters and sent books on grief. So for now I feel ok about processing the grief and coping day to day but I can see over time and during the course of life happening that things may change and I might need to seek out therapy. I think therapy is always good. I think talking through the pain is always good. It's so hard but I think it helps to much

@delight: we did go to her apt for about of year, and I still attend a monthly support group. I definitely think both have helped me immensely.

@sandy: I totally agree that is good to let it all out. I am very open about our loss but sometimes I just still feel overwhelmed with intense grief. It comes in waves but usually has to do with a specific date or memory. I'm glad you found comfort with your grief counsellor, I had an amazing one too.
@LAZB: I'm glad you have found support in your monthly group. I have met another girl who also lost a daughter with Turner's and she has become a big part of my life.

It's been quiet around here this weekend. I hope everyone is feeling well. I am finally past the vomitting every morning stage! I've had a few good mornings in a row. I'm in maternity clothes fully now, there's no hiding my belly.

@narwhal: I love your announcement! Your babe is so adorable. Looks like they have made their own little recliner in your uterus and are just chillin' taking it all in!

@delight: I totally get how it can be so intense and overwhelming at times. It comes in waves for me too. My DH and I really love Christmas and the whole holiday season but it was such a sad and emotional time for us last year - it was a rough time for sure. And I think it will be that way for a long time. I think the pain does get less frequent over time - like in the beginning you feel the sadness and pain and cry every day and then a year later you realize that there are days where you're not crying all the time - but I don't think the intensity of the pain lessens necessarily. Like maybe I don't cry everyday anymore but when the pain hits it is just as suffocating and paralyzing as it was in the beginning. So glad you've connected with someone close who can relate to you

Also, yay for having some good days free of nausea and vomiting!!! That's awesome!!! Hopefully it will continue to get better each day!

I have good days and bad days but overall I'm feeling like the nausea is slightly less intense this week. Today is also my last day of progesterone so I'm hoping that will help ease the nausea as well.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! We had really nice weather and enjoyed the sun. I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and have my first OB appointment on Thursday with the new doc (had been followed by my IVF doc initially). Also I'm suddenly nervous about this being my third csection. My neighbor is an OB and I asked her about the doc my IVF clinic recommended and she was like "yeah, he's a good doc and has a smaller practice that is more conducive to a more personalized experience." But then she was saying that Dr. S who was in the same practice as my prior OB is really great and really experienced. I just didn't connect with her - granted she wasn't my doc - so that's why I didn't choose to go to her. But now I'm second guessing my decision.

    @LatteLove: @sandy: @delight: thanks
The babe is mastering the fish lips already! It was so magical watching him/her dance around in the womb.

We also found out I have an anterior placenta, I'm really hoping it won't take forever to feel kicks!

@sandy: I hope that you connect with your doctor this week!

  12. delight

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@narwhal: oh I had an anterior placenta with my first two pregnancies and it was a long time before I felt anything. Sorry! With DD it was 18 weeks and with my little A that I lost, I didn't feel her until 20 weeks!

@sandy: I think Christmas will always be hard for us too. We lost our Ava I believe just a little bit after your Ava (Dec 19) and Christmas will always be a struggle. I am hoping that this year it is a bit easier for both of us as we will be holding our beautiful new babies.

I missed my genetics appointment today because of nasty car accident coming home from my parents house today. It had the highway completely shut down. We were stuck in the traffic for more then two hours before we were able to get flipped around. My new appointment is at 9am. I am hoping to get something accomplished tomorrow at the appointment. Has anyone been to see the genetic folks at your doctors office? I know they will want a detailed family history and there are a lot of holes in my family because of adoptions and just plain not knowing. Hoping we can get some answers and hopefully this baby is completely and totally healthy.

@MrsRcCar: oh no!!! But good thing you were able to get it rescheduled so quickly! At first I thought you were in the accident - so relieved it wasn't you!

  16. sandy

    cantaloupe / 6687 posts

@MrsRcCar: I haven't yet talked to a genetic counselor specifically related to this pregnancy (there was embryo testing during the IVF process though). But based on the appointments from my last two pregnancies it was like you said - detailed family history of health conditions so they can evaluate the risks from both sides of the family. And that's hard when there's adoption (my FIL is adopted) or unknown medical histories. Fingers crossed for a good appointment tomorrow!

@MrsRcCar: yikes I also thought you were in the accident when I started reading. What a pain though! Good luck at your appointment tomorrow. I have spent lots of time with my genetic counsellor. She has been a valuable resource to us.

I have a regular prenatal appointment tomorrow. We will try the Doppler for the first time. I am nervous already but can't wait to hear that lovely sound.

@sandy: I am relieved it wasn't us as well. Just wish I had known about the accident before we hit the back up. My dad is adopted and so was his mother. 😬 My DH knows very little about his family. Like all he knows is his dad has type 1 diabetes and his mom had crohns. That's it. I know a bit more about my moms family but they are all very private about their health issues. 😒 I only recently found out about some issues because my older cousin is pregnant and she talked to me about her genetic work up.

@delight: I am hoping it goes well. I had to call the office to tell them we weren't going to make it because of the back up. The women who I spoke to was very rude about having to reschedule to tomorrow. It's like lady not my fault the highway is shut down.

How far along is everyone? I'm 10 weeks today. I'm packing for our upcoming trip and had to find warm weather clothes to wear and basically I can only fit into summer dresses and maternity shorts. It's kind of crazy how much faster the bump appears for subsequent pregnancies. I remember it taking forever to show with my first

  22. MrsRcCar

    grapefruit / 4712 posts

@sandy: I will be 14 weeks on Wednesday. I broke down and bought maternity jeans about a week and half ago. The bump is strong with me. I was nervous to buy anything before my appointment but I am glad I did. I don't plan on buying maternity shorts, I hate shorts. I do have some skirts to wear this summer instead.

  23. sandy

    cantaloupe / 6687 posts

@MrsRcCar: I prefer dresses so much more! Maternity shorts are the worst - never flattering (at least on me) but I just pair with a flowy longer top so just the very bottom of the shorts are visible.

@Sandy 14 weeks tomorrow here!! Have been wearing maternity for a few weeks now... I didn't show with DD until I was like 20 weeks. Her birthday is Oct 12 and I remember wearing my regular clothes in May for a college graduation.

I agree about the dang shorts- why are they so terrible looking? I have exactly one pair of shorts so I will have something to wear to the park or the splash pad during the summer. I plan to just wear dresses the rest of the time since they are way more flattering on me.

  25. delight

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@sandy: I'm 14+2 now and wear maternity clothes. My bump is quite big! I don't like shorts either. I don't really wear them much regardless and only have one pair of maternity shorts. I prefer dresses and capris in the summer.

I'm so jealous of everyone that's 14+ weeks already... I'm only two weeks away, but i long for the days where I can eat and not feel sick! I want food to taste good again.

@theknest: welcome to our group! I'm totally hoping for a Halloween babe. I think that would be an awesome birthday. I'll be trying out my pump and eating a whole pineapple on Oct 30. That's all it took to put me into labour the first time.
@dragonsword: I jinxed myself when I said I was feeling better. I'm back to barfing every morning. I do have more energy though!

@dragonsword: Everyone is due before me so I'm jealous of everyone! I'll be 10 weeks tomorrow. I'll need a repeat c section, so baby will probably be born a few weeks earlier. Too bad that doesn't mean a few weeks less of morning sickness, though!

I'm with y'all on the dresses, I've worn them for the past couple of days, it's the way to go!
@MrsRcCar: sorry you had to reschedule your appointment, hope it goes well today!
I have my NT scan and appointment tomorrow, can't wait to see the baby! And hopefully I'll be getting the NIPT results too, although we are going to wait until Saturday at DH's birthday party to find out the sex

@sandy: 14 weeks tomorrow. I'm super jealous of everyone and their cute baby bumps! I have a pretty long torso and am a FTM so I don't expect to be showing for a few more weeks.

I'm so excited, our Panorama results came in, and baby is healthy and low risk for everything! We are waiting to have a gender reveal at my husband's birthday party on Saturday, so don't know if it's a boy or girl yet. It's killing me that I could know and don't!

Everyone's scans and announcements are lovely! @MrsRcCar awesome pic! You're getting a hi-five there! @lazb beautiful announcment!

I have my ten week appointment in an hour. Why is this so nerve wracking for me?! Does anyone else feel MORE nervous in the days and hours leading up to an appointment?

Plus I'm feeling nervous because at 10 weeks I'm already feeling better. I'm back to eating meat and smells aren't as bothersome and my boobs are less sore and I'm sleeping better. I've convinced myself that these things are bad! I'll find out soon enough. Who knew I was such a nervous nelly?

@Plainpistachio: My first appointment is a week from today and I'm already getting anxious! Also, I felt 100% better at 8 weeks with DD and everything was fine! You're probably just really lucky.

I'm 13 weeks +...not really showing, even though it's baby #3...I just feel like I look a little chubby and bloated - by evening if I stick out my belly, I've kind of got a little bump going on. I'm also still totally wiped out - hoping that the burst of second trimester energy kicks in soon! I'm sure the weather's not helping - it's been cold and rainy, who wouldn't want to stay in bed all day?!
