I am firmly pro-vaccine and firmly anti-spanking.

No one's given me grief about vaccines...everyone I know shares the same view. I get a lot of criticism from family about not spanking but I've made it clear that I don't and won't do it.

That's all I can think of. I was really picky about everything when T was first born...but I've let it all go in time. Haha

Picky when it comes to the kids? Probably being around cigarettes/smoking.

I have a few things, I guess.

-Sleep schedules, I don't like to mess with them, save for very rare, 2-3 times a year reasons.

-eating sweets (other than fruit). I only like to give treats 1-2 times a week. I don't think my 2.5 year old even knows the word dessert.

-screen time. We let our older have some, but I realllllly like to limit it. She's never seen a full-length movie, for instsance.

-Vaccines

-Car seat stuff

@Bao: Carseats here too. Honestly, I'm a bit of an asshole about it, but I can't control other drivers, and can easily control the carseat situation. The percentage of people who have improperly installed car seats, or who are improperly buckling their kids blows my mind.

The one I get the most grief about is sleep schedule. We don't miss bedtime. Like, ever. I think in 20 months the only time we've missed it was for a funeral. We didn't loosen up on naps at all until like 15 mo and even now it would have to be an amazingly good reason for us to miss a nap.

Hmmm. I guess car seat safety? I feel like I am pretty laid back with most things....

ETA: It drives my mom crazy that I go and re-buckle my kids after she's loaded them up into her car. I feel like no matter how many times I tell her, she still puts them in with the chest clip down at their belly, and loose straps!

Car seats, schedules, and my kids looking clean. I pulled my daughter from a daycare bc it infuriates me that I would pick her up from school and she would still have remnants from lunch on her face. It takes 2 seconds to wipe her face. How lazy can you be? I can't stand to see a kid with a dirty face away from the table/eating.

Sleep - hands down. I don't play when it comes to naps and bedtime. People give me crap about it all the time.. but I know my child best and you aren't there when it comes to bedtime.

Definitely carseat safety. Extended rear facing and buckling in properly.

@avivoca: my grandma keep saying how much easier it will be for her when we let her flip dd around in her car. How????? It's the same thing!!

Properly fitted shoes.

I have E's feet measured regularly and only buy properly fitted, well made shoes. I have saved most of her clothes for DD2 but I always donate the shoes - LO2 will have properly fitted shoes, too.

No one drives with her besides M and I so car seats are not something I have to stress to others.

I think food, we both have food allergies so no one has permission to feed her anything besides what we provide.

Probably food/nutrition because of a combination of allergies and just because I don't think kids need to be having junk on a regular basis.

Definitely sleep/routine. We very rarely break from routine and I prioritize her sleep. I got things in to the day around her naps and bedtime. People always comment what a happy baby she is, and then make a remark about how militant I am about her schedule. I remind them she's happy because she's well rested

Food ... I don't like sweets or fake shit. She's also a vegan, but since I'm with her most of the time (besides school, which is a non-issue), it isn't really a *thing* yet.

Other health/wellness stuff: I don't like a lot of chemicals, so I am pretty picky about shampoo and cleaners, etc. I don't like a lot of plastic in the house.

I used to get ragey about carseat stuff, but I do the "right" thing for my LO, and I realize it's not my place (unless someone asks).

I don't know ... I think once you get past the first year of parenting, you calm down a lot.

Looking clean and probably car seat safety (although, DS was born in 2009 and the car seat recommendations were different back then. Obviously I know better now and I follow them strictly). Sometimes my parents take the kids and keep their coat on while buckling them in their car seat so I take the kids out, take their jacket off, and put them back in myself. And I definitely install the seats myself each time!!

I allow my kids to get messy but it's my responsibility to clean them up after playing in the sandbox or eating a Popsicle. I think it's sad when kids are dirty, you can tell no one brushed their teeth that recently, their finger nails are long and are full of dirt. So I'm pretty particular about making sure they all my LOs look taken care of.

Given that my LO isn't here yet, the only thing I can say is vaccines (as long as they are medically able to get them, of course). I'm in a month group on Facebook and talk has already come up about not vaccinating, complete with all kinds of misinformation. Makes my head spin around like the girl from the Exorcist...

Car seat safety and screen time.

Aside from basic safety stuff, keeping LO's hair combed. She was born with a full head of strawberry blonde hair. At 9 months it is past her ears. She gets terrrrrrrible mats in the front from naps and in the back from her stroller. If I don't keep up with combing the, out nighttime post bath comb is a terrible screaming match. Detanglers help minimally. DH is bad about it; he hates making her cry. I mean, so do I but it gets compounded if left alone
