So my LO has always done really well on a sleep schedule and tends to get pretty cranky without one. We recently (about a week before DST) moved her to a 2 nap schedule because she had started fighting her 3rd nap and it went really well. She was doing:
645-7: wake
9:30-11/11:15: nap 1
2:30-4/4:30: nap 2
8: in bed
All was well. Then DST happened. We got her bedtime moved up to the "new" 8pm with no issues after a few days, but her morning wake time didn't adjust. I think she wants to sleep until 8am? Or later even?
The problem is she is pretty set on her wake times now so if she sleeps until 8 then she doesn't want to nap until 1030. And then she doesn't want to wake up until too late and then her next nap is too late and then she hasn't been awake enough before bed so she won't sleep.
So we've been waking her up at 7:30 every day. And then *usually* I also have to wake her up from her first nap because she falls asleep about 10 and wants to sleep longer than an hour or so.
I've never had a problem waking her from a random long nap if it is f'ing with our schedule, but the fact that she wants to sleep in and we keep waking her up seems INSANE to me. I feel like I should be thanking my lucky stars and letting that kid sleep! But I don't know how to do that without totally f'ing up bedtime.
It seems like the only other thing I could try is just letting her sleep in and then moving her to a 1 nap schedule... but 1) that seems premature since she is only 10 mo and didn't move to a 2 nap schedule until 9mo and 2) I feel like 4-5 hours is a LONG time to keep her awake. I've had to do it occasionally when she's woken up from a nap early and it succkksss.
Is there another option I'm not thinking of? Or do I just resign myself to waking my kid up, or not waking her up and then dealing with bedtime drama?
