Is this a growth spurt? Am I doing something wrong all of a sudden? We had been getting a pretty reliable 4-5 hour first stretch with even one 6 hour stretch until two nights ago...
Someone reassure me this isn't forever!

This started for us at 12 weeks. It lasted two weeks, got better for two weeks, and is now (at 4 months) starting to happen again.
So I have no advice. Just commiserating. Hang in there

Do you have a nighttime routine? Around that time my LO really needed a routine to go down for the night. Sounds like a growth spurt though and just becoming much more aware. I hope it's over soon!

That was exactly my LO (was sleeping long stretches and then starting waking all the time)...we needed up doing some light nap/sleep training and she went back to being an awesome sleeper and still is at 21 months

@sandy: what did you do to train? I have no idea where to start and feel like he's still too young for CIO ...

I have no advice, but I wanted to tell you we just started this at almost 12 weeks so maybe it's a 'thing'. Hugs! Maybe someday we'll sleep again!

@grizz: oh man. Sorry to hear we're in the same boat! Do you do any training or routines yet?

@knittylady: sorry it took me so long to respond...it's been a long day but I wanted to get back to you bc I know how "in the trenches" it can feel in the first few months...especially when it comes to sleep.
My #1 resource is momsoncall.com...I loosely followed their schedule and they really summarized what all the sleep books said in a concise way. If you want to help your baby get long stretches of sleep, I think it will help to check it out.
I've posted a lot about what has worked for me and I know it doesn't ring true for everyone but if you want to try, you really have to have confidence that your baby is capable of sleeping long stretches - my baby was a big, healthy girl would had previously been sleeping 5-8 hour stretches at night so I knew she could do it.
Here are links to some of the stuff I posted a LONG time ago. And I'm sure there are several others floating around but these are the ones I was able to find. I know @Mrs.Pen and @Babyboeksmom have both told me they found reading my experiences were helpful...you can try and see what works for you and you may be so shocked to see how quickly your baby shows you they can sleep for long stretches.
Here are the links and best of luck!

ETA: I started nap/sleep training right around 10 weeks and it worked so great for us and she is still an awesome sleeper
