I agree with children being on their own timetable. The only thing I would ask you to consider, just because I wish that I had, are motor planning/processing issues. As it turns out, Ellie has some large motor processing issues (she is currently in OT to address them) and when she was younger and not meeting some milestones I had my concern brushed off by the pediatrician. I wish I would have been more active in seeking out additional evaluation because I think she would have benefitted from OT when she was much younger (like P's age, even). Do you have any worries yourself? I would say that if you, personally, feel she is developing on her own, healthy trajectory, don't stress. Especially since she clearly understands what it means (and is smart enough to make mom do it!!). She sounds like such a sweetheart.

I'm not sure how it is in TX, but here, I was told by another mom with all her kids in EI, that early intervention can be done by a self referral, that you wouldn't need a pediatrician or other doctor to sign off on an evaluation. It might be worth checking into even if you have a hint of a concern?

I don't know how this works in other states, but is there a Head Start or a Parent-Child center near you? Around here they will meet with families and do screenings- could be a way to get her screened / get recommendations without seeing a pediatrician first.
