I'm looking for cute ideas for first birthday parties. My LO is only 6 months... but I'm a crazy plan ahead kind of person, and this way I can take advantage of sales after Valentine's Day and Easter.... since it's a Rose Garden Theme.
Did you/Are you doing anything cute and special for your LO's birthday? My friend made a scrapbook of the year for everyone to look at, and had pictures of herself and her hubby when they were 1 so we could see how much their LO looked like them.

I've just started calling around for venues (60 people?). Haven't yet thought of a theme...It's so hard!

I'm not doing anything "special." Just going to make some DIY tissue paper flowers (I have a pretty rose template if you're interested!), special ordering a cake, making some traditional korean 1st bday stuff and birthday hats for the kids, and giving out cupcake favors.
It's a party for our friends and family since LO is too young to really enjoy her 1st.

@Rubies: Wow, that's a lot of people! I'm trying to keep ours small for budget purposes, but it's going to be bigger than I'd like. Elephant theme would be so cute ... and I'm sure you already have some elephant stuff you can use for decorations.

I'm going for a cupcake theme, but I plan to hang her monthly pictures up so everyone will see her progression. 
I've been looking on Etsy and Pintrest for ideas though.
Good idea on Easter and valentine's day....I know her party will include pink, so I'll keep an eye out on those sales.!

@artbee: The 60 people is more like 45 - family and our friends...We are the only ones with a baby (amongst family AND friends) and they're all so excited to celebrate anything related to LO

Omg I'm totally stuck too! LO will be 1 in August. Its common in our circle to do a big 1st bday, we will have like 150 people OMG because we have to invite everyone that invited us to their LO's birthdays. And plus at least 40 of that is just family and we have a huge circle of friends with kids too! I'm dreading the thought of all those people and have no idea how I'm going to plan it! So I could use all the help I can get!!
We went to one bday and they had a corner with all sorts of dress-up stuff and the kids could all get dressed up and get pictures, it was so cute to see them as fairies and princesses...you could do a fairytale theme or princess theme.
I like the animal/elephant theme too! My friend did an owl theme since her little girl was a nightowl and never slept thru the night! It was really cute!

That's crazy, so many people! I would just do a big dessert table, that's way too many people to serve real food to. Do you have a theme?

@sunshine44: How many little girls will be at the party? I found a really easy DIY tutorial on making little tutus. You can make a tutu for all the little girls to dress up in and then have them take it home at the end of the party.

@artbee: yeah I think we will have to cater lunch for sure. There are a few halls nearby that may be the best option. I'd love to just serve tons of desserts yum yum!
@rubies: the Tutus are a great idea! I haven't finished the guestlist but I think we have more boys than girls.
one of my friends did "under the bigtop" theme and that was very cute with popcorn, snowcones, cotton candy stalls!
