We did a 7 hour drive when LO was 8 months, and the best advice I have is drive when LO should sleep if at all possible. We made the drive starting at 7 p.m. and LO was awake only 30 minutes of it. Mind you, she wanted to play when we got in at 2 a.m., but the drive was so much easier since she slept.

@butterbean: Tommee Tippee makes a travel bottle/food warmer which is great for bottles, especially wide bottles.

We just did a 10-hour road trip to Michigan for my grandfather's funeral last weekend. D is 9 months old. We left at naptime, and he slept for the first 2 hours. He woke up and played pleasantly in the back by himself, then we stopped so he could eat and get a diaper change and a break from the car seat. I kept milk in bags and just ran them under hot water - bags heat up WAY faster than bottles - it took maybe 20 seconds. Back in the car, he did ok but then got kind of fussy so I climbed in the back and entertained him for another 2 hours or so until our next stop. This was a longer one, so Hubs and I could eat dinner. Then we changed him into his pjs, I nursed him in the car, and we put him back in his car seat. He fell asleep (for the night) in the car seat. He woke up a bit once we got to the hotel, but went back down pretty easily w/just his paci and the white noise machine.

We packed toys, his travel sleep sheep, books, and puffs. The books kept him occupied really well, though reading them to him made me a little car sick. We also put the 90s on 9 station on the Sirius, so he had fun watching me dance and sing along to all the goofy 90s tunes, ha ha.

ETA: I brought my manual pump and pumped in the car.
